Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, September 12. 2008Unfair?Dem politico Mark Penn says:
Friday Morning LinksSnobbery. But Palin does good with Charlie Gibson. Was it a press quiz? Is Palin a female? Mugabe is a hero! What's the matter with Michigan? Backgrounds of those in Congress. Too many lawyers, not enough businesspeople, and too many professional politicians making a living off "public service," aka a free ride on the taxpayer. I prefer the prom dress. RWNH How the other half (the MA half) sees the world. Seems a bit hysterical to me.

Thursday, September 11. 2008NaturallyNaturally, the Obamas send their kids to elite private schools. Would not want them associating with the riff-raff or being taught by unionized teachers. That's what wealthy Liberals do. Lefties seem to consist mainly of the condescending and/or guilty elites and the "gimme more" poor - and the young kids who know nothing about real life. Public schools are for us proles, I guess. Us middle-class proles who work hard and pay our taxes and worry about our savings.

Palin on Kudlow, in JuneThursday linksThey probably faked that proton thingy. Who could tell if they're fooling us, cuz them proton thingys are so teensy-weensy that you can hardly see the dang thing to break it with a 21 oz. hammer. The growing consensus on global cooling. Yeah, I was for global cooling before I was for global warming...or is it the other way around? OMG. Canadians afraid Palin's example might reduce the number of abortions. God forbid! Palin takes a couple of days off to send off her son to serve the USA. This is real. No styrofoam. Repubs were hopeless two months ago. Now the Dems are fearful. The NYT busts its delivery unions. Nice greedy liberals. Freddie and Fannie had multiple personality disorder Vanishing American barns. Sad. Same thing in New England. h/t, Flares USA Today says Palin busts feminist template. Indeed she does. Foreigners do not understand the real America. And here's Melissa on Sexy Conservative Women From Stop the ACLU:
UK Update: Don't litter, but please kill the old folks Roger Kimball goes after the NYT, and other easy targets. A quote:
Roger Stone: Obama hurt himself badly. Americans are not stupid. We may not all study Sartre and Marx, but we know how to clean a carburetor or a deer or a gun, and how to drink beer. We are quite unsophisticated. Obama rattled. Or On his heels. Or flailing. Gotta feel badly for the guy. He's never had a contested election, and he's not ready for this. How's that executive experience going, Obama? The NYT discovers the Annenberg Challenge. One of the few things Obama has done, and it was a failure and waste of $150 million of money another person earned by creating real jobs and real products that people wanted. Dems are smarter than Repubs, right? Further, Bainbridge considers the sophisticated Dems. Me? I am a redneck country bumpkin, moved to NYC and growing more sophisticated and conservative by the day. Gender gaps around the world. A quote:
What is "the war on terror"? We have saved Iraq, and are chipping away at the sick craziness in Afghanistan - but what is it? In my opinion, it's only a "war" in the sense that there is a "war against cancer." It's a cultural cancer: If it stays where it is, who cares? But if it invades us, we do care. Photo: Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment remove concertina wire to clean up Baghdad. It's not needed any more.

Insane? Some people are going stark raving mad over politics. Examples: Stark raving mad: Powerline. Holy Mackeral, what a putz. Andrew Sullivan goes over the edge. Not the first time. Obama on Barack the bomb thrower. Why remind us of your buddy Ayers? Noted commentator Matt Damon. Who is this guy? Roger Ebert, unhinged. Good grief. Dem leaders attack Palin for not having abortions. Maybe they wish they had been aborted. Obama updates the Sermon on the Mount. Hey, why not? It's obsolete, like the Constitution and all that old-fashioned stuff. Biden: "I wasn't the best choice." Honest, for once. A faux-feminist's primal scream. They do hate happy women. Wednesday, September 10. 2008LipstickWeds. linksThe witch-trial hysteria of the past two incendiary weeks unfortunately reveals a disturbing trend in the Democratic Party, which has worsened over the past decade. Democrats are quick to attack the religiosity of Republicans, but Democratic ideology itself seems to have become a secular substitute religion. Since when did Democrats become so judgmental and intolerant? Mrs. Palin is mobilizing women of all sorts. Good on her. We are all sick of the unattractive feminazi academic lesbians. Takes 3-4 hrs of activity/day to fight your fat genes. Chop some wood. Clean the house. Peel some potatoes. Carry that load. Mow the lawn. Turn off the TV. Turn off the internet (except for Maggie's Farm). Weed the garden. Carry some rocks. Go to Costco. Tip some cows. Shoot a caribou. Carbon is a lost cause. Sure is. The coming global cooling crisis. Lehman is screwed. I feel badly for the long-time Lehman guys who thought they were wealthy. A great American company which, I assume, did not listen to their risk managers. Obama dies on O'Reilly. He really cannot give a straight answer, only lawyerly evasions. But his people can do the dozens (that's a ghetto expression). Steyn on the world wanting Obama. Funny. Certainly PM Brown's endorsement will not carry much water in the US. We do not want to be like today's UK. Europe is in a death-spiral. What about all those "green jobs"? People in government couldn't run a profitable candy store. Obama's big contribution to education? Sex ed for kindergartners. That is perverted, sick. It's the big education debate. I happen to want the feds entirely out of education. "Oh, I wish I'd looked after me tits." Bush revealed as Lincoln and Grant. Someday the nation will appreciate Bush. Obama unplugged. Herald

Tuesday, September 9. 2008Too much good stuff todayIt's just this simple! Now go vote! Independents moving to McCain. Duh. Even Jules now alarmed about global cooling. T. Boone Pickens cares only about one thing. Jeremiah Wright has a new scandal. Skirt-chasing. I thought he was offensive enough before this. Africans pay the price for greenie moonbattery Gaffe Central: My Muslim Faith. Sheesh. It's sad. Obama now is for Charter schools. With a wink to the unions? I do not believe this. Sarah on the basketball court. Shoots and scores. Now they say Obama is running against Palin. Weird. Two on one, since Biden is a joke (somebody forgot to tell Obama). Sipp on politics: All politics is the prayer for a deus ex machina. Yes, always. Do not look to those jokers for your life's salvation. Mankind will never be ready for democracy, or dictatorship either. Dems have no respect for regular Americans. That is true. I am a regular American, neither elite nor a victim, and not interested in being either. I guess that makes me a Repub. Michelle's boot camp for radical propaganda. Shades of Stalin and Mao. Rejecting Obama for the right reasons. That's me. I'd vote for a black Conservative without any hesitation. Poll: Lefties against the Constitution. Horrifying...but somehow not surprising either. It's OK, Oprah. No, really! It's OK! Got to add that site to our blogroll.

Monday, September 8. 2008Hating SarahRemember when feminism was concerned with overcoming artificial and essentially irrational “glass ceilings” in employment and other activities? Well, with time and legislation, those areas are pretty well fixed – as the positions of Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton, Carly Fiorina, Sally Krawcheck, etc., etc. have demonstrated. What now for the Departments of Feminist Studies at universities all over our country? Unemployment? Hardly. The feminist movement has morphed into the Feminist Party, and it has An Agenda. Gwynnie spoke to a Feminist Chair at a big university this weekend and got an education. Suggesting that Sarah’s nomination might have appeal to what we thought were feminists (shattering another ceiling, inspirational to young girls, etc.), we were bowled over by the furious attack – turns out that Sarah is hated by the “Feminist” Party. We asked the professor what the “Feminists” regard as their major issues, and it turns out that they are:
We had guessed that abortion would be a criteria for admission to the “Feminist” elite, but gun control? Creationism? It’s sort of sad that as real feminism has almost blown away the glass ceilings, “Feminists” would dilute themselves into becoming merely liberals with skirts (or pantsuits). This whole week has been educational. The following letter was written by a Bryn Mawr graduate in Continue reading "Hating Sarah"

Monday linksThe Feds should have privatized Fanny and Freddie, not taken them over. Running the mortgage market is not part of the government's job according to the Constitution. One day later, now the auto biz asks for Fed support. It's a slippery slope if failing businesses can run to the Feds (eg our wallets). Scientists get death threats re Hadron Collider VW Microbus to return? Flower decals and peace symbols optional. Biden: Life begins at conception What's up with Andrew Sullivan and Obama? Kristol: "McCain didn’t just pick a politician who could appeal to Wal-Mart Moms. He picked a Wal-Mart Mom." It's refreshing. I tire of these elites who always are certain that they know what's best for me. Related: Tammy on Palin (via Insty), a quote:

Roger Simon with general thoughts about the election and the culture of narcissism How McCain is running as the candidate of an unpopular president's party. Barone Palin did it. Surber. Saturday, September 6. 2008Saturday linksThis must be a bug. It can't be intentional. Thanks, MSM: Kristol. Also, Why They Hate Her. Related: Hey, Oprah - you're missing some killer ratings. Andrew Jackson: a real-estate lawyer who was laughed at by the Eastern elites. HACNS1 is an interesting gene Cute as heck: Piper fixes baby brother's hair Can you taste anything with your eyes closed? The Brits don't get Palin. Their loss. They need a Palin, or another Maggie. American men love Palin. A moving speech. Classical USC censors Koran, removes Jew-killing hadiths. Obama sending the gals out to protect him. That's what metros do. Obama worried? Plays race card again. But he already played that card. Can you play the same card twice? Right Wing Prof wants you to see this short video: Palin on Omama and the surge. McCain's viewership topped Obama's - without styrofoam pillars! Hmmm. Typical lefty: Charlie Rangel forgot to pay his taxes for 20 years. Just like Ted Kennedy, with his wealth offshore. More at Dirty Harry's. Polls show people believe reporters want to damage her. People aren't stupid. She shoots...she scores! John Fund Gloria Steinem hates her feminist sister Palin. Is the only correct way to be a "liberated woman" to be a screeching angry victimized lesbian abortion-loving man-hating bitch? My focus groupMy focus group (of one - my wife) sees something special in Sarah Palin, besides her humor, good cheer, and optimism. She said "She is the candidate for the heartland of America. No... for the heart of America. She's not the candidate for New York City or Cambridge or San Francisco, where the elites don't know anybody who ever started up a gas station or a dry cleaner." Of course, my wife is just a small town Connecticut Wellesley ex-PTA rube.
