Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

One good thing about Obama

One good thing about Obama is that he smokes. Maybe he'll help make tobacco cool again. (I have read that Hillary smokes too, but I can't prove it.)

Mrs. O might consider some of these smoke-eater candles for the President-Elect's Christmas stocking. We don't want the Oval Office smelling like an ashtray...or do we?

Ironically enough it is his smoking that humanizes Obama in my view. Hope he doesn't give it up but instead moves up to a good Havana seed to accompany his after dinner port. I think a contemplative Obama puffing slowly on a good cigar is a perfectly civilized way for the leader of the free world to relax and gain perspective. And most of all, by smoking in the face of those PC Puritans, Obama would find many in the 46% who didn't vote for him rallying to the cause of freedom! Politics (and cigars) make strange bedfellows!

I feel the same way about his smoking - it humanizes him and removes the Jesus aura from him. I bet as each day goes by and his new job description becomes increasingly complex, he's sneaking off to the pantry to smoke a few. He tells the cook to turn on the stove fan. oh.. duh... He's not in the White House yet. Oh well.... He'll hang his head out the Oval Office windows..

i'm glad too --that he smokes --it may mean that he's free of Libprissiness, a disease of the personality wherein the patient makes normal people throw up --
