In February 2009, I published a commentary in the Wall Street Journal entitled "Reaganomics v. Obamanomics," which pointed out that President Obama's economic policies were exactly the opposite of President Reagan's. I predicted that as a result they would produce exactly the opposite results. Art Laffer has produced a far more sophisticated argument advancing a similar analysis. But the June unemployment report released last Friday shows an economy doing much worse at this point than even I expected. More than 30 months after the official start of the recession, the economy is still losing jobs.

We may choose to do so because we have a humanitarian desire to cushion hardship, but we should accept that when we reduce the hardship of being unemployed, and actually give people money for not working, were are going to get more people unemployed for longer periods.

Flipped out. Gone ‘round the bend. Is so out to lunch that he doesn’t even have the good sense to pretend he’s hard at work so as to quell the public’s growing-more-frantic-by-the-day concern.
And when all is said and done, I shall always remember the Hey Jude sing-along as the most clarifying image of the whole unseemly mess we refer to as the Obama presidency. He’s done.
Is he? I did think this quote from his speech was strange, when he spoke of "our determination to fight for the America we want for our children ... even if we're unsure exactly what that looks like."

Next year, I am considering handing out Maggie's Farm t-shirts for the hike, with a Farmall and a logo. Our group is around 25 people now, and we draw straws in advance for who gets to decide on the route. I was hoping for the end point to be Alexander Hamilton's farmhouse, but somebody picked the Cloisters.

And he dwells on sentiments like bipartisanship that no longer resonate.
Obama is hoist on his own petard. The man who blames Bush for everything now finds there are some things presidents cannot do. More deeply, the opposition party that persuades the public government can solve all their problems, discovers once in power there are problems their government cannot solve.
Alas, it will take more time than they have to learn the next lesson: that governments which try to solve the insoluble, more or less invariably, make each problem worse.

I say it is a victory for Israel, for truth, and for civilization in its eternal war against barbarism. The affair has not discredited Israel, but its "critics." It has made it plain beyond a shadow of doubt that the "critics" are in reality remorseless enemies who deny Israel the right to exist, as shown by the fact that they have portrayed Israel's perfectly legitimate and necessary act of self-defense as a crime against humanity. The "critics" have thus uncovered the truth about themselves and can no longer credibly deny it: that they are not high-minded humanitarians but allies of Hamas in its jihadist war of extermination against the Jewish state.
