We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You may not yet be aware of this, but I'm given to understand by The Houston Chronicle that today is National Elder Abuse Day. Hmmm.
Does this mean that each of us should find an old person and proceed to beat him/her up? Surely not. I think that perhaps it means National Prevent Elder Abuse Day.
Then why not say so? Years of badly taught and carelessly absorbed English instruction have led to this.
By the way ... Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is showing impressive smarts and aggressive leadership. And without having to use a teleprompter too. Louisiana has not always been lucky in its governors [the wavering weakling Kathleen Blanco leaps to mind]. But they've got a 24-karat leader now. And boyohboy do they need him.
