Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

And if the Jihadists are just misunderstood peaceful folk, how come they are so afraid of them? The press is supposedly giving the Jihadists a pass on the cartoons, etc, because of "sensitivity"!!! Dealing with this kind of stupid BS is just...ridiculous! And if these kinds of jerks frighten the American press, the American press is worthless. These folks are unready for Western Civilization if freedom and civility are not their priorities. One question: How would the media react if these were Christians?

Wednesday, February 15. 2006Wednesday Cocktail Hour LinksA Moslem Brokeback Mountain? Oh, man. This will make the sparks really fly. Coming soon to a theater near If you are a regular reader of Maggie's, you would have known about these Loftus tapes two weeks ago. Is there a smoking gun? Not clear. Do the tapes prove that Saddam was fixated on WMDs? Yes. New York Times: Give Hamas a chance....for what? To kill more Jews? It's your turn, France. You pull this little metal thing, and then the bullet goes out of the end of that metal tube-thingy. Low-fat diet? More evidence that it's useless. NYTimes Science Times. Great news for carnivores who like their steaks burnt on the outside and rare on the inside, with a mountain of buttery mashed potatoes...hey, what's for supper? A White House on Quaaludes. Cheney finally spoke today, honestly and graciously. Copped to the whole thing, although from what I heard it was a true accident and not an error. He should have spoken sooner. The White House has been doing lots of important things, but, in managing the loony shark-infested waters of the press, they are a bust. Fire the jerk whose job is press and micro-crisis management. Tuesday Morning LinksEnormous 4th Century BC Macedonian tomb discovered by farmer in Greece. It's easy to be Green - so say US corporations. Who knows whether it makes a difference, but I don't think that's what it's about. Cool book: A Treasury of Royal Scandals. More on the Left's efforts to muzzle free speech on the US airwaves. Aronoff at Accuracy in Media. Registering ammo (!?!) in Boston. Good example of how a nanny state becomes a fascist state. MassBackwards. Dhimmitude further defined and explicated. Big deal. It must be a slow news week, especially if you won't report progress in Iraq. I saw one news report that said he was hit with buckshot! More likely #8s or #9 birdshot from Cheney's 28 ga. Not very scary. Hey, but what about the rumors that Whittington is Libby's natural father, and also Abramoff's bag-man for the White House? Investigate that.

Monday, February 13. 2006Monday Morning LinksNor'easter caused by Bush's Global Warming. No doubt. Warming causes cold weather, natch. Steyn on Mustafa Shag:
It's too good: Europe is Taking The Wrong Stand. Is Old Europe Doomed? Dalrymple:
Read entire excellent piece. Venting, but with the legal details, about Carter and the MLK wiretaps. Rhymes with Right No blood, No fowl: Michelle is worried about fallout from the shooting story. Bird hunters know that this happens on occasion. As long as you miss the eye, it's no biggie, except to people like reporters who don't hunt or even like guns. A damn shame he missed the bird, though. And we learn he hunts birds with a 28 ga. That means he's good. More humorless Moslems: Volokh has the example - a new cartoon - of how not-offending becomes offensive. Jeez. Chill, Moslems. And cheer up.

Friday, February 10. 2006The Dishonor RollMichelle lists the nations and newspapers who have already submitted to Islamic bullying, demonstrating their terminal lack of healthy pride and self-respect. Captain Ed has some good comments. And Bruce does a great job with moral equivalence. Some people waste no time in bending over, do they? You have to wonder whether they like to, and what their problem is. No doubt there is great laughter in Muslim-land that some fake cartoons, some trumped-up emotion, and a couple of rent-a-riots can have such an effect on the world. This kind of event only reinforces their idea that the Caliphate is on its way, and more easily than they might have imagined. If you scroll down a bit at Michelle, see the cover of a Polish magazine this week - very relevant. Friday Breakfast LinksPoll: 97% of Iraquis oppose terrorism. Other interesting numbers, too. Blogcritic Big snow coming to New England. Wonderful. What is fun is to watch the TV news hype a normal winter snow. "Winter weather warning" flashing below the screen, etc. I guess it sells soap, though. Weather was more fun here in New England when you didn't have two days' warning. "I insulted Americans, but they aren't going to behead me." Kalitsky in (UK) Times Reid is in deep trouble with Abramoff mess. Good thinking about Defined Pension Plans and Social Security. Willisms Hate speech is good. Coyote. A good point: it lets you know where someone is really coming from. Ice cream vending machines? Why not? A VC Mark Warner is getting his act ready for the road. Thursday, February 9. 2006Wednesday Afternoon and Evening Links - UpdatedOn the same day that the NYT refused to publish the famous cartoons due to sensitivity, they printed a photo of "Dung Mary". Well, slap me with a mackeral, as Mr. Free Market would say - how dumb can they be? Conspiracy. Yes, I am deeply offended by both Dung Mary and by their hypocrisy and hatred of America. I insist that they cease publication as of today to avoid further offense to me and my friends and family. Let's plan a mass protest march like the Moslems are doing...no, that would be cruel to kick 'em when they're down. They could be headed to jail anyway for revealing defense secrets. Will the wedge issues for 2006 be terrorist wiretapping and illegal immigration? If so, I think Repubs win. Am. Prosect. A cure for AIDS? Ace Inflatable Mustafa has a 7-inch one. Is that all? An insult to Islam! Bare-Knuckle Carnival of Christian bloggers is up at Part Time Pundit With friends like this...Brownie threatens Bush. It proves the guy wasn't really ready for prime time (Brownie, I mean...I think). Get 'em all riled up into a lather, then claim they need an emotional outlet. WTF? 100,000 Moslems to march in London. Sounds strangely like Al Sharpton tactics. Miss the Superbowl Commercials because you were busy blogging? Here they are. The new censorship crazeA Plea for censorship from the EU: Daily Pundit A plea for self-censorship from Slate. I knew this was coming. H/T Protein Wisdom. The article is worried about "stereotyping". Gimme a break. Since when is sterotyping illegal or unconstitutional? We all do it, all day long. It's called "learning" from experience. What is wrong with these idiots? They are stereotyping themselves to the point of self-satire. And this comes after discovering that the entire Mohammed cartoon thing was a scam by sleazebag Imams to rile up their people against Denmark. Thank God the leaders of the US are not omega male metrosexuals like Europe has. Like Blair. See also our piece on "Dont MaKe 'em Mad" - scroll down. Why the Coretta King Funeral Fiasco?
How can you keep selling victimhood when the country is full of black Republican candidates? Despite the Democratic-produced stereotype of poor, single-mother, victimized blacks, American has a rapidly-growing population of middle class, church-going, solid and ambitious black families. Why would they stick with a political party which demeans them and uses them? They won't. Lynn Swann is just one of many. This guy can run. And will win. Aspiring blacks and hispanics are part of the future of the Republican Party - if it will stand for its principles...which it has not been doing recently, for lack of a good orator. This great photo yesterday - not from the funeral. Thursday Early Morning LinksAbu Hamza gets 7 yrs in jail for inciting murder. That's a start. MoDo thinks Anglicans dump Israel investments. Not only is that wrong-headed, but what are they doing with investments anyway? Give what you have to the poor, and follow me, eh? World gone nuts. 6 year-old suspended for sexual harassment. Jeez. I still touch cute gals. Is that wrong? But they touch me much more than I touch them. World gone nuts, #2: Did Yahoo drop the dime on Chinese dissidents? Democracy Project. We have had NO Chinese readers for two weeks, and assume we have been shut down there. Is Maggie's Farm dangerous? How can we check it out? Anybody know? Do not read before breakfast: the Religion of Peace... Atlas. No-one wants to take us up on our Help Wanted advt? We are serious. (scroll down) Blogs and politics: What effect, if any? Ca. Mediterranean Diet? Healthy for some, delicious for all. Science Daily Gonzales says NYT being probed in leak case. About time. Remember what Nixon got in trouble for? Not the break-in - the cover-up. The totally disgusting Coretta King funeral. Heard a bit of it on the Hannity radio show - too awful to listen too. And the in-your-face hatred and disrespect shown to Bush demonstrated an out-of-control hatred that should be beyond civilized people. Turning a funeral into a political stunt. Beneath normal human dignity, and shows no honor to the deceased's life, or to the corpse. But I guess it's a bully pulpit...for the desperate and shameless. Bush was as gracious as a man can be. Agree with him or not, there is a real person in there with a code of behavior. Do the Dems have a future? Ex-Donk wonders, and doubts it. And Happy Blog Birthday Ex-Donk. We're the same age. And I am an ex-Donkey too. Lots of us are. Gay Tourism. It's big business. Thailand censors biography of their king. What's the fun in being a king if you can't do stuff like that?
