We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
i agree with the
more sober voices calling for
restraint in insulting the religions of others.
at the same time, the threats and violence
and threats OF violence from the Muslim world
amount to a "Protection Racket".
clearly the Islamic world
has a serious PR/Public Image problem.
as i understand it,
the most offensive Danish cartoon
was the one in which Mohammed was depicted
as having a lit bomb in his turban.
regardless of its intent as an offense or "incitement",
it was exactly what a good political cartoon should be:
a graphic encapsulation of current events.
the interesting thing
about the cartoon posted in this thread:
Mohammed has no part in it.
the commentary is in regard to Iranians(a nationality)
and alludes to a form of threat(suicide bombing)
that the current Iranian gov't both condones and sponsors.
as such it hits the
political cartoon target again:
