Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Is your computer a zombie? Hey, Prof. Change my grade. This reminds me of the old one: "I don't have my homework because my dog ate my brain." Time to re-deploy out of Chicago? Higher death count than the Middle East. Andrew Jackson: a real-estate lawyer who was laughed at by the Eastern elites. HACNS1 is an interesting gene Cute as heck: Piper fixes baby brother's hair Can you taste anything with your eyes closed? The Brits don't get Palin. Their loss. They need a Palin, or another Maggie. American men love Palin. A moving speech. Classical USC censors Koran, removes Jew-killing hadiths. Obama sending the gals out to protect him. That's what metros do. Obama worried? Plays race card again. But he already played that card. Can you play the same card twice? Right Wing Prof wants you to see this short video: Palin on Omama and the surge. McCain's viewership topped Obama's - without styrofoam pillars! Hmmm. Typical lefty: Charlie Rangel forgot to pay his taxes for 20 years. Just like Ted Kennedy, with his wealth offshore. Or Soros, for that matter. It's amazing how much Lefties love their $. Obama today:
Well said, Barack. Now you are running against yourself. From Roger today, about the Boston phone book, a quote:

PalinophobiaHuffPo has a Palin family shooting gallery. Where does this hate come from? It seems unhealthy. I don't hate Obama, I just don't want him to be our President. Toon below is from Atlas -
I am getting my 15' McCain-Palin yard sign ready
Obama's relationship with al-Mansour. Birds of a feather...
McCain as McCainMichelle has McCain's speech. Yes, he promises change. Rich Lowry's advice for McCain. I heard that many were moved by what he had to say. McCain is obviously no flashy orator, but how did he do in getting his message across?

The right side of the internets sure is enthused about Sarah. More at Dirty Harry's. Polls show people believe reporters want to damage her. People aren't stupid. She shoots...she scores! John Fund Gloria Steinem hates her feminist sister Palin. Is the only correct way to be a "liberated woman" to be a screeching angry victimized lesbian abortion-loving man-hating bitch? Or is it a wonderful thing that women can chose to be and do what they want? Repub ticket is a lawyer-free zone. That's refreshing. VDH discusses Quote from Henninger:

My focus groupMy focus group (of one - my wife) sees something special in Sarah Palin, besides her humor, good cheer, and optimism. She said "She is the candidate for the heartland of America. No... for the heart of America. She's not the candidate for New York City or Cambridge or San Francisco, where the elites don't know anybody who ever started up a gas station or a dry cleaner." Of course, my wife is just a small town Connecticut Wellesley ex-PTA rube.

Tape of it on previous post today. (That t-shirt is available via here) As Lifson said yesterday:
The Left and the Dems have merged. Strange how that happened. Bill Clinton just stood there with his finger in the dike. NYC drives away its middle class; Houston doesn't. Glaeser in City Journal The Guide to Top U.S. Colleges for Conservatives, Old-Fashioned Liberals, and People of Faith From Coyote: "I have written on a number of occasions that I thought it odd that the left (and women's groups in particular) don't see a contradiction between their support for government health care and their long-held abortion beliefs that people should be free of government coercion when it comes to decisions about their body and their health." Read the sad story from the NHS. Solar panels: check the numbers before buying Is 3-D printing on the way? Totally cool. How's your sex life? Quiz. Women often pick men who look like Dad Brit bien pensants sacrifice their kids on altar of "common good" A quote from a home-schooler, at Pajamas:

Wednesday, September 3. 2008Newt deals with provocative reporter last nightPeggy on SarahFrom Peggy Noonan's piece today, re Palin:
The 2008 political soap opera continues
Obama campaign is behind the smears. This "new politics" of personal destruction could backfire. "This pathetic effort of Obama" Driscoll Biden caught in yet another lie McCain's hidden depths. Newsweek McCain and his ex-media base The NYT eats crow and declares Anbar victory The McCain party is just beginning Obama's ten worst ideas. Foreign Policy "You want a culture war?" You've got one. "We were moved by his campaign slogan, “Vote Obama: He’s better than you’ll ever be.”"
Joe Biden's class act. "If McCain can get the votes of all the women who were pregnant at their weddings, it will be a landslide." Related: Obama's Mom was knocked up by a guy with a family in Africa at age 17 while single. Guy married her before the kid was born, then took a hike. Should she have had an abortion? NRO Villainous: Palin Offers Both Sides A Disturbing Look In Mirror. Indeed. via Right Wing Prof:
Barney Frank: "Attack Palin's family." Well, he survived that revolting little mess with his own "household," didn't he? As I recall, it was a gay hooker running a gay prostitution ring and dealing coke, living in his house. Nice call, Barney. Obama's bounce persists. People want "change."

Tuesday, September 2. 2008Mrs. Palin goes to WashingtonFeldman at Am. Thinker begins thus:
Read the whole thing. The IdiosseyLinks from NYC for Tues. morning
Yesterday I took a stroll through Little Italy, Chinatown, and the East Village. NYC is a carnival of vitality, and everybody looks young, attractive, busy, and lively. New construction is everywhere: my bedroom window overlooks a new high-rise going up. I will post when I am able. Not daily, I am sure, but I think I can enjoy this colorful life for a while. Hope and change. I won't be a stranger to Maggie's because I like this site so much. Mr. Sun goes spotless. Religion of peace wants to kill people. Obese people are cause of global warming. I thought so. Biggest ignored news story: Anbar handed over to Iraqis. A bit of America: Blue Ridge foxhounds. John isn't the John I knew. Who put the stick up his butt? Do you really like Barak's interpretation of Karl Marx? Hillary ready for Biden: draft-dodger, like so many others. Nothing to brag about. Who is behind the Palin smear site? Obama. What a surprise. Didn't he say last week to McCain "You don't know what you're up against"? But there's an OODA loop, dude. Watch out! Sarah sells! As Camille Paglia says:
Sarah is the modern face of feminism. Related: The smear machine goes to work on Sarah. I guess they are afraid of her. Related: Pastor doesn't preach. The Sea of Galilee is drying up. Monday, September 1. 2008Labor Day linksBig storm they have down there today. The politics of Gustav. Dems say "hurricane is on our side, hahaha." Is that funny? It's psychotic partisanship to the point of not giving a damn about America. Update: Gustav is weakening. I think that is because Sarah threatened to shoot the darn thing.
Related: Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard. But what do they do? Lots. Did you already read this? MSNBC Host Rips AP Reporter's Analysis of Obama Speech. That's our fair and balanced press. More from Brit Hume. McCain and the OODA Loop Photo from Conservatives find the girl of their dreams.
