Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Thursday, September 4. 2008My focus groupMy focus group (of one - my wife) sees something special in Sarah Palin, besides her humor, good cheer, and optimism. She said "She is the candidate for the heartland of America. No... for the heart of America. She's not the candidate for New York City or Cambridge or San Francisco, where the elites don't know anybody who ever started up a gas station or a dry cleaner." Of course, my wife is just a small town Connecticut Wellesley ex-PTA rube.

Who is Sarah Palin and what is the world saying about her? Click here to find out. http://newsdroppings.blogspot.com/2008/09/who-is-sarah-palin.html
OK, never posting here again has turned into, as pols are fond of saying, a "misspoken" phrase.
I want to comment on Sarah Palin. In fact I will comment on Sarah Palin. She is stunning on all fronts. The Democrats have to be very concerned. She shredded both of their candidates and did it with the precision of a brain surgeon…sorry Teddy…no actually I’m not sorry, you’re receiving condign punishment. The real thrust I want to focus on however is how the socialist press, the NYT., LA Times ,Washington Post and an army of cheap magazines and blogs have in this country is nothing but advocacy Obama. They’ve done as little vetting of him as they could possible do and maintain the façade of a “free” press. They know they need to be able to say they published this or that story on Obama, but it’s usually in the Friday edition, section C page 8. on what he likes to eat while watching TV or avoiding doing anything substantial in the Senate. One of the lead in speakers mentioned that the courts would be lost to the socialists for a generation if Obama is elected, and if you don’t realize that we’re in bigger trouble than I suspect. Palin and McCain offer only an Alamo to the tide of big government but we must do what those at the Alamo did, but this time we must win. Finally I will say that we are already hearing threats from some leaders in the black community of what will happen if he is not elected. They expect his election to be an entitlement and if not received they have said things will get violent. So the “healer” is directing a hit job on America. Well Obama, if you don’t win, and I don’t believe you will, bring it on and we’ll all take a giant step back about 150 years. Nice healing process, fella. That threat of a violent uprising if Obama doesn't win? I'm with you - bring it on. Talk about crawling back into the dark ages if blacks erupt..... makes me sick.
Palin is almost too good to be true. Magical. Meta , it makes me sick too because in sociological terms, which are always glacial in speed , we’ve come a long way. There is a prospering black middle class, most of whom if the polls are to be believed, are voting strictly on race. NO ONE gets 90-95% support on politics, especially when the specifics have been assiduously avoided as have Obama’s. He’s truly an unvetted stealth candidate that the socialist left and the myriad nutball factions the left have cobbled together.
But that middle class, it the gathering storm breaks will go down on race alone. You live by race, you die by race. I fought in Angola for a time, by circumstance, not by design but whites shot at blacks if they were in the wrong place. Nothing else mattered. It was the same in Rodney King, Watts 1965, and Detroit in the middle of the Second World War. But if the storm breaks the talking will be over and the killing will begin. And it’s all predicated on RACE. Now I have to go back out in the 90% humidity and 90 degree temp and continue sandbagging around my house prepping for the next hurricane. Oh, joy. Barrister - Your comment about Cambridge and SF reminded me of that great story of some Manhattanite who couldn't believe Nixon had won and said, "But I don't know anyone who voted for him!"
Sarah Palin reminds me of a female version of Teddy Roosevelt. Bully for her!! I'm excited for her, and can't wait for her to debate Joe( hair implants) Biden.
Nice to hear from Habu. Would be nice to hear from presumptive VP Luther McLeod on his opponent. Cause I ain't eatin no CAKE. Good to be back, thanks for the shout .
Sarah, my goodness is Alaska lucky. Hopefully if we turn out the way we can she’ll be the new VP and when JM term is done in line to become the first female POTUS. She also reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt. The courage, grit, smarts, and sheer force of will. Margaret Thatcher is failing rapidly and I believe we have in Sarah a Margaret Thatcher. As Mike Huckabee said last evening not all Reps were born rich with silver spoons, it just seems like over the years we have remained true to the Constitution and the philosophy behind it and the Dems , since FDR, have chosen socialism. Big government. And it might seem like someone like me doesn’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to the black community but let me tell you. In 1969 I worked all summer for no money for CORE. It was to help young kids get jobs like mowing grass and such. I worked at a dog track where many, many blacks congregate, and worked. The track was in the inner city , in the ghetto. I worked in South Carolina with migrant black workers when I was in 10th grade at a tomato packing company. To put this in perspective this was before the South was fully integrated. My high school had three black students in it and helping blacks was the exception not the norm. Then came Black Power and the middle and late 60’s and it all changed. I was lucky because I was “hip” to their scams but most of white America was on a guilt trip, or being driven in that direction by Hollywood and the MSM. Blacks via the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons have been blackmailing corporate America for 40 years. It must end. Obama and his coterie are scamming this country. It is an insult to have someone so unproductive and unqualified get a major parties nomination. They have a helluva lot to lose and nothing to gain by causing trouble should Obama lose. I pray he does. We’ll see. back to the sandbags and heat. fading fast. Used to reside in AK and wifey and I were discussing the possibility that if (may God forbid) Osama Bin Laden Obama 'n' Biden win, moving back there to land a job in the Palin administration.

My concern is the stealth thing too. But it's not really all that stealthy. He said today "I want a fundamental change in the way business is done in America." Fundamental? What I don't understand about Palin is where she got the speaking ablity, and the grace. She went for a time to North Idaho College, which isn't much, then to the U of Idaho, which is much better but nothing world class. A journalism degree, never used that I can tell.
And yet, with all the pressure in the world on her, she walked in there cool as a cucumber, and looked to be having real fun doing it. We all long to have an ability like that. Some of it comes from a natual good heart and optimism I'd think, but the rest must just be the grace of the Lord, if you believe in such things. |
