We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Today the news showed all the stump speeches, and as all four were out on the trail, I had a chance at one point to hear all four speak while I was not looking at the TV. What a difference there is in seeing a person speak and simply hearing them. Obama 'sounded' like a cheat. I heard no sincerity in his voice, and his pauses and "umms" nearly drove me crazy. Biden was not bad although he sounded too angry. Palin - well, I have to say it: I almost turned off the sound. I find her voice very annoying and felt like a traitor for my feelings as I admire her deeply. This morning I heard McCain and he sounded exhausted, but by mid-day, he was up and running. There was no question about the sincerity in his voice, and he spoke without pause and maintained his enthusiasm and optimism with much grace.
What a schedule McCain has today, and Cindy is with him all the way. That's kind of cool. She is a very graceful woman.
