We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Catholic colleges are infinitely superior. My daughter goes to Fordham. I am not a Catholic. She is getting small classes, strict curriculum based on the Western canon, and rules that protect her, such as that nobody is allowed in the dorms of the opposite sex after 2:00 AM. Her friends at places like Vassar and Wesleyan have coed bathrooms, sex in their rooms (tough on the roommates, I would say) and they HATE it, but they're embarassed to admit it for fear of seeming uncool. You really have no idea what hells of iniquity most modern colleges are. And we send our kids off to them to sink or swim, even though they are the opposite of every rule we enforced through 12th grade. It's horrible.
We have begun the college search for my eldest and found an interesting one we are planning to visit: Thomas More College of Liberal Arts in Merrimakc, NH. BTW, I attended Frodham Prep and Iona College, good schools both.
