We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
What limit do you put on the number of your social events per week?
What I mean includes guys' or gals' nites out, dinners out with friends, lunches with groups or friends, meeting friends for drinks, parties, etc. Does not include Bible study or church but does include after-church brunch with church friends.
My limit and preference is three/week. I have no idea what "normal" is, but I would guess 2-3 non-family social outings per week might be average. I always enjoy these things and love seeing my pals and our friends, but I need my own quiet time and wife time too. Life is too short, time is too little for everything.
I like to have at least one guy night out/week, one or two couples nites or weekend brunches out. Mrs. BD usually has breakfast, lunch, or tea with friends once or twice/wk. Plus she likes to go to the city for dance or theater as often as she can with a friend or two.
Rarely for all of the above. Meet about once a month after church with a couple of old friends for brunch. I'm pretty much a hermit and like it that way. Always have been and always will be. Don't really understand much socialization as many people seem to enjoy.
I guess I'm anti-social since I have no need for a weekly limit :) but I do spend a day a week volunteering at a nearby railroad museum, work out 3-4 times a week in a group class, HOA board meeting once a month, beer night every other month.
Guy's beer night every other week. Get-together that used to be a Bible study/small group averages every other week. Volunteer at Food For Children averages every other week.
Seldom much else. I only find people fascinating in small doses.

Almost never, maybe once every few months mostly by accident, neighbor is two miles away with nothing in between but grass... haven't talked with him in three years. Someone will have to hire pallbearers for me.
