We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

How do you transform a gender since gender is just a social construction?
Remember, sex is biology, gender is language.
Re: Disease of Modern Liberalism
The left (and their partners in the press) have really outdone themselves with their amazing and mind-numbing rationales and equivalences for the Orlando attack. We knew, or should have known, that guns would be the first "boogey man", but who could have guessed that "we" are to blame (according to Obama who said that “we need the strength and courage to change” our attitudes toward the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.) or according to ACLU lawyers, it was the Christian Right who was to blame. Then Sally Kohn, of CNN, put a little finer point on that saying that Christians are just as guilty as Muslims since they shoot up abortion clinics and kill abortionists. When it was pointed out that abortionists who were killed by "Christians" in the last 20 years only amounted to 20% of those killed in Orlando, she retorted, "Evil and hate are not relative to math...". Are they relative to common sense? I guess if a single deranged person who nominally belongs to a group does evil, that is equivalent to a group whose members routinely kill people.
If we didn't see the how invested this left is in the innocence of Islam, we got another glimpse the last few days. This has gone well beyond ideology and is now deeply into psychosis territory.
I forgot to add that Mateen was a Democrat so should Democrats share the blame with "right wing Christians" who blow up abortion clinics? There's evidence that he might have been gay. Are they equally guilty?
The Left is scared by and of Islam, but cannot admit it, so transfer their fear and anger onto any other available target.
Mudbug, mudbug, when liberals say "we" they don't mean themselves. They mean "too many of you to count."
I'm blocked from the good links at work, but I highly recommend CS Lewis's 1940 essay "The Dangers of National Repentance," on that we business. I've written on it myself if you want to search on my site.
Rest assured, AVI, I know that "we" means "you all who don't agree with me."
CS Lewis is on my list for future reading. Thanks for the tip!

If you are restricting the killings to the last 20 years, the number killed by anti-abortionists is considerably less. Wikipedia: Anti-Abortion Violence.
the United States, violence directed towards abortion providers has killed at least eleven people, including four doctors, two clinic employees, a security guard, a police officer, two people (unclear of their connection), and a clinic escort. However, when broken down by when anti-abortionists killed, we get five killed from 1993-1994, and six killed from 1998-2015. Which gives you 11% [6/53] in the last 20 years instead of 20%.
"Evil and hate are not relative to math...". Are they relative to common sense? I guess if a single deranged person who nominally belongs to a group does evil, that is equivalent to a group whose members routinely kill people.
I doubt she would agree when it is pointed out that the killer was a registered Democrat.
The Islamists are coming! The Islamists are coming! Disarm! Disarm!
Hey, you know where there are going to be food deserts? Out in the suburbs and country where the Obama HUD and other are forcing the low income housing.
I live in a food desert with the nearest grocery 8 miles away. And they want to build low income housing further out than me.
"THIS IS HOW DEMOCRACY DIES - Why more left-wing violence is likely on the horizon."
NO! This is how more leftist thugs will die. The real men have patient far too long. And they have all the guns.
"Forget the tie; your dad wants beer this Father's Day"
This will be my first Father's Day without him...died at 93 on March 3. I'll have a beer and a memory.
Did you ever do a post on "The greatest danger from the right I am not presently discussing. There are two, actually." that you mentioned?
I am reminded of the brouhaha 20 years ago about the IT gap. Computers dropping in price from $1000 to $300 helped do away with that.
And it turned out that when lower income DID have Internet access at home, they used the Internet in non-academic ways, so their having the Internet at home didn't improve their test scores.
I will look around, but what I probably had in mind was "responding to patriotic symbols rather than conservative principles," or the similar "confusing traditional with conservative;" then also, a reflexive antagonism to attacks on business, believing it is in favor of the free market. Not always.
