We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
So, they want a huge bribe up front, and more in back. How about building a large edifice for, say, 12 people, and signing it over to the board to own and operate? Nah, still got the back end bribes. I'd suggest Collegiate tell them "you and the horses you rode in on can find a sucker if you're lucky; we are not it".
I sort of understand why they'd be picking NYC - Manhattan in particular - it doesn't seem like the added cost of private school would bother people who already have an insane cost of living. On the other hand, I doubt many of them really want their kids around so a boarding school somewhere else seems like it might be more profitable.
Me - I'd tell them to do something anatomically impossible and take my money elsewhere.
