We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This is why Rush remains so good. He responds to Obama with good cheer and without rancor, while going straight to the heart of the matter. Byron York. One quote:
One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:
"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."
Completely related, The Audacity of Obama at Powerline. He has big plans for us, and it makes me uncomfortable.
You know, folks, the interesting thing to me is that Obama is acting as if he won by a landslide, and he didn't. IIRC [and correct me if I'm wrong] he got 52% of the popular vote -- a bare majority. Yet he ponces around, pounding his chest and saying "I won."
Whatever happened to modesty? And good manners? Oh, O.K. I guess no one bothers with those things any more.
MM , come on get with it , this is 2009 not the 1950s .
Manners you say ? Who has time for such inconveniences !
Some things will stay constant & never go out of style, manners ( consideration for others ) is on of those.
The memory of him standing on stage being so cool, not standing erect, & not placing his hand over his heart while the National Anthem was playing is totally unforgivable..my family sacrificed two decent men for that flag.
He's in over his head , it's just a matter of time.
Democrats pick their Presidential candidates as if it if were a casting call for the failed "West Wing" TV series, a channel that my remote did not rest on even for a NY minute. That is their problem- Democrats always go for the guy who can look like a President, who likes the idea of playing the role, can eloquently read the oh so clever lines from a Teleprompter, make their sycophants and groupies swoon, but none of them can actually follow through with the consensus building and the difficult, all-too-often unpopular decisions it takes to actually do the job, day in, day out.
And then there's the idiots one must put up with in the way of MSM, Moveon, Daily Kos blogger/disinformation/liars, and such. And they wonder why we blue dog Republicans don't run to kiss their asses???!!! They could start by having Obama apologize for the totally disrespectful way his fellow Democrats treated Bush 43 from Jan 20, 2001- Jan 20-2009. Yes, as Marianne pointed out, start by showing some manners, a little class for a change instead of the general boorishness which has always been the Democrats trademark.
Whatever we do, we cannot sink to their level in terms of lack of common decency, manners, and nastiness. That doesn't mean, however, that we refrain from playing hardball, but rather it means we keep smiling as we throw every brush back and knock down pitch.
It's a mistake to accept the public persona of Obama as an extremely competent guy. He has not managed, led or initiated anything of consequence in his life except his election and I think he was swept in by accident.
He looks like a really tightly wound guy, with no sense of humor. His organization of the white house is full of egos sure to clash and is overly large and complex.
Anyone like to take odds on this exploding early on?
DirtyJobsGuy may be on to something. GOP should take the stance of Loyal Opposition Party and let the games begin; just tune in to Rush for the daily briefing and talking points! I also agree with DJG that so far Obama has shown no sense of humor, takes himself far too seriously, as do all around him. Will be fun to take aim at Gibbs since it appears that he is relying on hero worship to control the White House press corps. Man, is Obama in for a rough four years, let's just hope that the country doesn't suffer too much as a result.
