Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Today's Big Contest!!! Name That Development!!!

Our friend Sipp's post inspired this contest.

Winners receive a year's free online subscription to Maggie's Farm, with a special Free Bonus of unlimited commenting privileges.

I am sure that all would agree that the famous Florida development retirement community ticky-tacky pressboard Disney World for Viagrified Republican golfers, The Villages (pictured below), could have been named far more creatively, like The Greens at Paradise, or The Coffins at Happy Acres.

So we invite our readers to put on their Marketing Hats and come up with some names for American developments yet to be built. Punsters welcome.

Once upon a time I worked for a company that owned and operated mobile home parks (Manufactured Home communities). There was a company newsletter, as there usually is. One article I read was extolling how renaming some of the parks was a really spiff idea, and it had So Much Meaning.

The changes:
Pembroke Pines to The Pines at Pembroke
Jefferson Estates to The Estates at Jefferson

and so on. Every one of them was exactly like the two above, all had the The ... At ..... There wasn't even enough daring to add some unneeded Es to the mix, as in South Pointe.

I used to regularly pass a "retirement community" at a major entrance to the town of Purley in Surrey. For a while the hoarding called the place "Purley Gates".
