Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

How long must we wait?

How long must we wait for the Dems to propose socialized legal care? It's only right, isn't it? How many folks are economically destroyed by legal bills? Or go without justice because they cannot afford legal help?

Universal legal representation is a right, not a luxury. Come on, Dems. Get on board, and help level the legal playing field!

Barrister ... I know you're being sarcastic ... but don't encourage the buggers. They are constitutionally unable to know when folks are kidding, because they have no senses of humor themselves. Any group of people who can confuse the idea of "benefits" with the concept of "entitlements" is capable of dangerous amounts of brain farts when it comes to whether they have the right to run our lives. And deprive of us things -- for our own good, of course. Because they know "better."

Why do you need insurance when the courts already can force lawyers to represent people for free in the name of "pro bono"?

Don't fund legal care for the people. Just give everyone who passes the bar exam a federal credit card.

That way the courts and people won't be bothered and the lawyers will get the money w/o setting up an new federal bureau.

The real question is why the government won't give law firms huge amounts to balance the money put in banks. Isn't that a 14th amendment issue?

They won't socialize legal care. Trail lawyers are a big contributer to the Dems. They can't cut off their own funding.
