We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's an interesting question, "why do liberals lie?". It would seem to have more to do with arrogance and the sense of entitlement to power born from a belief in their own superiority. It's generally understood by the typical American that the average man is not a liar and that he will not assume one is a liar without cause. Does a typical leftist believe that or do they tend to believe in conspiracies, cabals and the evil of those who see the dangers in unchecked power? Their entire program has been based on lies and misdirection from the beginning, (see Progressivism, the New Deal, The Great Society and the Departments of Energy, Education and the EPA). Modern liberals in pursuit of power depend on that simple fact. Scare tactics are regularly employed to justify hare-brained schemes and policies supported by no one but intellectuals or those on a government payroll unaffected by the realities of day to day life. All in the name of utopian perfection and equality assumed to be impossible by anyone with common sense. It's not about 'feeling good about themselves' for so-called liberals, it's about power and their entitlement to rule because they are better than others. It's psychotic.
liberals have always lied about their beleifs...its much more socially rewarding to want to help all the worlds ills at the drop of a hat...much more difficult for those of a conservative bent to actualy do the work.
