My late Uncle Bill, who used to introduce himself as "Bill Gill from Pleasant Hill", a Marine vet still outraged at yankee Gen'l Banks' boys for their Red River Campaign during which at the Battle of Pleasant Hill they wrecked the town, rose from his easychair as the 1964 election turned against Goldwater, and with nary a word to the several others also watching the returns there in his living room, took his 12 gauge from the rack over the mantle, leveled it at the tv set, fired off both barrels, replaced the gun, went over and unplugged the sparking & smoking wreckage, and still wordless, walked outside, hopped in the pickup, and drove over to Red River Parish for a few days rest at his bootlegger's facilty up in the piney woods outside Coushatta.

Aunt Ruth and the children, it should be remembered, strongly disapproved of this incident.
