Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Ethnic nationalism

Jerry Muller at Foreign Affairs. The summary of his essay:

Americans generally belittle the role of ethnic nationalism in politics. But in fact, it corresponds to some enduring propensities of the human spirit, it is galvanized by modernization, and in one form or another, it will drive global politics for generations to come. Once ethnic nationalism has captured the imagination of groups in a multiethnic society, ethnic disaggregation or partition is often the least bad answer.

It's about healthy nationalism and the problems with the multicultural "ideal" in most places. Read the whole thing.

Only a Gramscian could support 'multi-culturalism'. Empty headed leftish types reflexivly like it since they're told to like it.

Should ethnic disaggregation prevail in USA, Balkanization, politcal partion into ethnic states, could only mean dissolution of the Union.

Ethnic disaggregation may be least bad answer for Europe but it is not a realistic answer for USA's union of free states which are irreversably multicultural.

USA through immigration has become multicultural and the US Constition is designed to accomodate a diverse cultutral state and states for, by and of the people's will expressed through republican legislatures under the rule of law.

Hyoid bone, unused in stating this is, nonetheless, still intact, finger counters.

An ideal isn't an ism. Multiculturalism, as pushed by the elitist left, is meant to destroy rather than to preserve. E Pluribus Unum.

But multicultulalism is an ism, though it isn't the topic.
