Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Royal County Down Golf Club

Some friends are leaving soon for a ten-day Ireland golf trip.

There seems to be some agreement that the Royal County Down Golf Club is the best links course in the world. They will also play Ballybunion and some of the other famous links courses. I find it pleasant that Ballybunion has their etiquette listed at their site.

Make sure they also play County Sligo(Rosses Point), Royal Portrush, and Enniscrone. If they can swing it, stay at Markree Castle in County Sligo, same family for over 350 years.......
I hope they have a good time, my brother and I enjoyed it immensely in 1998.

I do a trip to Ireland each year and I always play at least 3 rounds of golf. I haven't played Royal Portrush but I have played many times on Mount Juliet Golf Course - you see my condo in the States is very near Jack Nicklaus, who actually designed the course. I hope to meet him some day by chance and tell him that I enjoyed it very much.
