We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
What an astonishing leap of faith the Nobel Peace Prize Committee has made! They have awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC and Albert Gantry-Gore for the "work" they have done to prevent or at least mitigate pain and suffering that MIGHT happen in the future event of conflicts that MIGHT happen due to negative effects that MIGHT happen due to the POSSIBLE warming of global climate that MIGHT be caused or contributed to by HUMANS.
And they committee seems not the least embarrassed about it. Fascinating.
I began to understand how the Nobel prize had been corrupted when I realized that it took more than 100 years to establish a prize in economics. Then, during the first 30 years of that prize (+/-) who have they awarded that prize to? More importantly why not to the economist, whose work came closer to being humanitarian than any other--John K. Galbraith?
It has been during the last 2 decades that I have known the committee is no longer free from outside influence.
Rush Limbaugh was nominated. Would have made more sense. At least he expects people to be the best they can be, while Gore is an enviroprofiteer, short selling the world and expecting the worse. Peace=pessimism I suppose.
LOL--yes, me too, he makes me want to cut down giant redwoods, burn acres of old tires, toss beer cans out the truck window, shoot endangered species, waste non-renewable resources, bulldoze the Grand Canyon, nuke yellowstone, insult little old ladies, on and on --the sactimonious lyin' hypocrite.
