Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Hunting in America

A few stats at Surber. He correctly notes that it is hunters who have done the most for American conservation.

If not for the hunters, where is the money for conservation and management going to come from anyway? People who love to hate hunting don't get that far in their reasoning.

Many of the great early conservationists, Teddy Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold among them, were hunters, a fact today conveniently forgotten. When we as a nation remember this again, we will know that something fundamental has changed.

HUnters are the best. If you haven't seen the movie "Shooter" I would highly recommmend it. It's all about hunting.

I'm patiently waiting for illegal alien/terrorist season to open. I've heard that depending on the strength of the outbreak there may be no bag limit, no tag lottery. In fact I undertstand from a friend that you don't have to get within two hundred yards of the kill. You just leave it to mother nature to clean up the kill.

This is serious stuff. White tail eating up peoples gardens. We can't have that, we need serious white tail wipeout. The terrorists, ah , we don't have to worry about them, so just get your shit together and focus on saving the garden from deer depredation.

Shooting illegal aliens for sport?! WTF! I'm anti-illegal immigration, but proposing killing them is ignorant.

Any terrorists, foreign or domestic should be brought to justice, and I'm all for law enforcement going in gun blazing if the bad guys are going to light it up. But what are you proposing in your advocacy of HS's comment? We should go hunting for brown people? Open season on who exactly?

Serious on a thread about hunting is a whole lot different than serious on a thread on about terrorism or immigration, and you should be able to tell the difference rather than jumping on my shit like I'm a leftist.

shooting illegal aliens coming across the border. moving target, invaders. just today the head of mexico said that wherever there were mexicans that was mexico.

so you can be outraged at killing illegal immigrants and potential terrorists like ms-13 and aq at our borders or you can go hunt the cunning and dangerous white tail dear.

it is clear our government has lost all legitimacy in protecting our borders. it now falls to the individual citizen. or we lose a nation the same way europe has lost its way.

This thread was about hunting, not killing immigrants.

Not all illegal immigrants are ms-13 or AQ, but you just go ahead. Lock and load, rush right down to the border and start whacking away at anything brown. Let me know how that works out for you.

Arms Race II: From Russia with Love

Cold War Redux - Russians arming Iran, Syria and by extension their terrorist proxy groups with advanced arms


Billions pouring into Russian pockets as it re-weaponizes the Mideast.


Murder for hire might be one way to describe recent Russian arms dealings in regards to Iran & Syria. In fact the Russian journalist who broke some of these weapons sales stories was apparently murdered for his efforts, or should we say he died mysteriously? Facing increasing scrutiny & scathing criticism Russia has most recently curtailed selling to Iran directly, and now just bundles up the weapons to Syria, who then passes some of them on to Iran as part of the package. Iran is paying most of the bill in light of its recent Syrian defence pact, and of course this gravy train or axis of evil doesn’t stop there, why should it?

Proliferation then extends down to terrorist groups funded & supported by Iran & Syria like the Hezbollah, who came up with advanced Russian anti-tank missiles as well as anti-ship cruise missiles in last summer’s terror war against Israel, not bad for a bunch of terrorists.

Iran - Arming to thwart America


While they get the big press for repeatedly threatening to wipe Israel from the map, Iran saves it best bile for the Great Satan - America. Multi billion dollar arms purchases recently entail buying up the most advanced Russian weapons platforms available, some not even fully integrated in Russia just yet, as well as advanced Russian aircraft and anti tank weaponry.. A massive ramp up of high tech arms to thwart America should military confrontation continue to heat up over illicit nuclear weapons production.

In addition Iran is feverishly working on leaked North Korean ballistic missile technology and developing intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads into currently both Israel & Europe, while eyeing the USA shortly range wise.

But isn’t a stock of 30 million + white tailed deer, most of em in peoples backyards, getting to be over the top? It just keeps getting worse as more folks trade in their rifles and venison for Game Boys and Big Macs.

Hunters serve a good purpose in keeping certain species of game from getting over abundant. Thirty million white tail deer annually cause fatal auto mobile accidents.

How do you think a family feels when they find out that a deer has caused a fatal accident for a family member. It IS a serious problem.

I lost my best high school friend when a deer crossed in front of his new Toyota Prius. The car was destroyed and my friend killed.

Sorry to hear that, Trenton.

Deer hits, esp at night, are common here in the central Texas hill country. I've hit three myself, over the years --usually somewhere around a thousand bucks damage. But no injuries, due to the vehicle being a pickup truck. It's the higher windshield --no deer can come through it. Plus, it really helps to be doing 50-60 rather than 70-80 on winding two-lane country roads at night. And, it it's a tree-lined road, be pre-prepared to NOT hi-speed swerve. Just brake all you can.

Sportsmen are good at conserving their resources but don’t consider the balance of nature. Businesses are good at using cheap labor but don’t consider all the problems. The west has been good at messing with Iran but doesn’t consider the consequences.

Hmm. Maybe “Instant Americans” aren't looking far enough into the future when they deal with stuff. Too many people want to pee in the pool instead of doing the hard work of getting out and going to the bathroom.

That's crap. Conservation is the careful preservation and protection of something; especially : planned management of a natural resource to prevent exploitation, destruction, or neglect. That is the "balance of nature".

Hunters are concerned with conservation. They pay for it and they practice it. The problem is when politics trump sound management policies that help maintain natures balance. It's like when PC politicians want to limit deer hunting and the herds grow so large that food become scarce and disease is rampant.

Lets see if I can organize this here thread. Deer hunting is on the decline because:

A. Americans are getting all fat and lazy.
B. Everyone’s conserving ammo for Putin’s terrorist boys.
C. You cant shoot at anything these days without hitting an illegal alien.
D. The deer are hiding in suburbia.
