We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The Great Leap Backward?

Summary: China's environmental woes are mounting, and the country is fast becoming one of the leading polluters in the world. The situation continues to deteriorate because even when Beijing sets ambitious targets to protect the environment, local officials generally ignore them, preferring to concentrate on further advancing economic growth. Really improving the environment in China will require revolutionary bottom-up political and economic reforms.
Yeah like China and India are going to forgo the path of least cost like burning coal without scrubbers, dumping their pollution directly inot their river which make it to our seas....yeah it'll happen ...they'll make going "green" a top priority ... Dear Santa, I'd like a new bicycle...blah blah
And to save a buck here and a buck there the US consumer is buying all the slave labor made products we can fill our homes with..
It's the same story with drugs..cocaine comes into America by the hundreds of tons because WE demand it..Pot ..same story//we're the marketplace....
