We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Recreational sex

What's the most important news story of the day?

Paris Hilton, of course. I guess life must be good in the USA if she is the Big Story.

Paris Hilton is a great, walking, almost-talking argument for recreational sex without involvement. One small step above the inflatable sheep thing.

For those of you who are sick of reading me today just turn the page...

Back in my youthful 20's of the 1970's I lived in San Fransisco and Los Angeles. Let me clarify one thing up front...I'm a raving heterosexual only. But even as long ago as the 1970's the term "recreational sex" was used regularly. It was so casual that one could use it as a pick up line and have it work 40% of the time. If you upped the ante by saying lets go do some coke, quaaludes, or marijuana along with the recreational sex it was a done deal.

The "Great Flyover" was in the dark about this and both New York, LA and the Bay area knew it. That's how it became the "Great Flyover".
I can't count the number of times when I worked for IBM in Beverly Hills that a client would offer me a "toot" before we even began a conversation. If the client was a female it might be a toot with sprinkles :)...

Some things change very slowly and it sounds like LA, with the exception of a much bigger Rap influence (ugh) hasn't changed much.

I burned through my own Caligula life in a few short years of focused debauchery. Didn't like feeling like a mindless predator. Also, married a woman with more shotguns than Mary Winkler.
