Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Oranges Freeze: Where is Bush and FEMA?

Arnold asking for Fed disaster relief for frozen oranges. What a joke.

Is he a girly-man? The ranchers didn't ask for Federal for their frozen cows last month.

Correction. Woops. Thanks, Reader. The Ranchers were girly men too. Are we now an entire nation of girly-men?

BWAHAHAH!! Don't laugh too hard though...Some folks in New Hampshire asked the Governor to declare an emergency for the LACK of winter weather here. I kid you not.

And now California wants to give the poor out-of-work illegals extra unemployment benefits, even while they are working other jobs. We are even subsidizing our illegal alien workforce, supposedly here to do all those jobs "ordinary Americans don't want to do," in the patriotic words of George W. Bush.

The USA taxpayer supplies milk for the teats of illegal aliens.It jails it's Border Guards for doing their job, and entertains in our court system a tort case for damages by the drug dealer those guards shot.

The swirling toilet bowl is sucking us under.

My grandfather has been a small farmer since he got out of the army the end of WWII. After he had spent an hour grousing at me about conservation holdbacks and disaster relief monies, I asked him why he took it then. His reply was pretty succinct. "They're stupid enough to offer it, I'd be pretty stupid to turn it down."

A lot of those farmers and ranchers would survive just fine without. But reps from the Dept of Agriculture or FEMA or whoever run house to house visits. They stop by and offer them free money, and usually they don't just offer, they push.
