We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Smells fishy

Tunagate! Bluecrab sums it up. But does Tunagate have legs?

Do tuna have legs? Given the orientation of the MSM, probably about as many legs as the Sandy Burglar "non-story."

Still, any Yankee has to admire a Cape Cod Bluefin Tuna. It is almost sad that a mere man has the power to kill one of these glorious creatures with just a stick, a string, and a boat. Don't sell them to the Japanese. Grill up that fatty belly meat which is the only thing tastier than a Kansas City steak, and bring the rest to your local fish shop. Americans deserve this good stuff.

I finally broke and bought back into Halliburton--last week, when it hit 28. Couldn't stand it. Now I'm sure we're headed to 48.

Nice to see the sane ones over here from that other bar place. I've finally given up on it myself...same ol' monotonous pissing and moaning. Good ol' Rufus is still trying to bring some level of sanity, humor and thoughtfulness...good on ya Rufus.

This place is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for introducing me to it Buddy.

philg, you're right about rufus being an almost always positive note--but the downbeat note on most all of the conservative all-politics blogs is nothing if not realistic.

I mean, this is a downbeat time--especially after Nov 07.

On the all-political blogs, I don't deliberately jump ship--I just get too depressed to contribute anymore. I mean, now that we all know we're probably universally screwed, might as well wander out into the sunshine and draw a few last breaths of air.

There are folks who work from a greater distance from the front page--it's just a matter of inclination. This place is a prime example.

I'm personally so beat down by politics, that trying to celebrate the background culture is just a matter of steadying my state of being, if you know what I mean.

You know you've become obsolete when you find yourself pissed off all the time.

It's like that old saying about rape. If you(females) know it's gonna happen just lay back and enjoy it. Well thats politics USA 2007.
I don't know how old you are but I'm in my 60's. Reagan was the best. Clinton the most dangerous and unctious.
This nation is not close to what is was suppose to be but that is the ebb and flow of history.
I wish I had a cure for you. All I can say is just move on to another interest an cast your one vote on election day along with the 400,000 illegal aliens that come every year.
Oh and don't forget it's not too late to switch to the Dhimmicratic Party if you're not one already. Or get ready for a big shoot out here when they hit us.

I've found that the political blogs that I used to devour, I just now glaze over. Everything sounds the same...something's got to break out soon.
