Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Quick Note on How My Posts Will Develop

Quick note.


One thing I have to do, for revival, is to keep notes, write, and improve.


I will keep it as simple to start as I can.


I will focus on stories - broadness, not specific or deep.


It may be long.


It may cover several options or topics within a grouping.


I will add articles if I can. I will focus on spelling and sentence structure.


If I do something or write something improperly, wrong or in need of revision - PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD COMMENT.


I could shift back to my old style, I've got a few I'm reading.  But overall I'm keeping it simple as possible to start.


Some may be longer and have lots of coverage.  So wait for tomorrow. 


I'm open if you're happily honest and correcting so I can review and make the corrections if needed! 

All the best to you - hoping as I share and write, and hoping for more love from all of you as I work to rebuild!

Try to avoid 1st person references as you may be able, i.e. "I". Try and write as an observer of yourself and someone else reading the same story.

Not meant to be harsh, just thinking in terms of "objective" rhetoric.

Otherwise, write what you feel and just get it out there.

Write like the wind! Don't know about you, but I can't really get anything straight until I write it down. And edit the crap out of it. Good luck!

Bulldog, I have to say that I admire how positive you are being, and open and honest you are about what's going on. I don't think most people would do half as well at keeping their spirits up as you do in this situation. I will keep you in my prayers, for health and healing... and as you mentioned that you were "picking back up" on your Catholicism, may I suggest that you also go talk to your local priest and receive the Anointing of the Sick? Everyone I know who had done so, received a great deal of spiritual healing and blessing, and some also received physical healing as well.

Thank you - and yes, great advice! One of the "to do" events which I'll engage and grow with!

I've had really nice conversations with old friends I'd studied religions with in college and over the years. Got too lazy about it for many years.

I'd reached a point, at a grown age, with too much politician discussion at churches and my brief join of Knights of Columbus from 2000-2002. I really enjoyed that! But they took a shift claiming "no politics" and even though I supported their views largely, they WERE engaging politics and it angered me.

GREAT people - great guidances and wonderful times. But as much as I love politics and share views, support truth and backing, I do not appreciate that when you do focus on personality and kindness.

Admittedly, I would shift into that from time to time personally - and always managed that as carefully and briefly as I can. Little things tend to push me up way too much.

Greatness and wonder - back for you, as well!

All of you will have support and prayers as well earned and deserved - you've all been such great friends and followers! Love you all!

Also - ANY religion and prayer is welcome and loved! Catholicism is just my growing, learning and history for many years.

Funny story from last Christmas! Driving to the gym (of all places) with Mrs. Bulldog and saw some Menorahs (3 of them) and said "Wait - it's Hannukah?" She stops (we were introduced years ago by her college roommate and my college roommate who were married Jewish people) and said "Yes - it was early this year."

I stared and got upset. I reminded her my mother, in my youth, used to have a menorah in our window at home in Philadelphia. We were Catholic and I said "why do we have this?"

"Because Jesus was a Jew - and it is supportive to show truth and support even though we have shifted our views. It is all positive support for even religions we do not completely share today."

I've always loved that - despite the usual anti-Jewish nonsense that pops up from time to time by stupid or evil people.

Studying Buddhism, Judaism, Islam/Muslim, Catholicism, Protestantism (so many!) has always taught me so much!

One of my favorites? A week at Prague following Jan Hus and the associated Defenestration! OOF - learned so much back then and now I have to work to remember and read names, stories and thankfully it all returns again. LOL

Also from Prague - Mrs Bulldog put up with my hiking to see so much about my favorite - Franz Kafka! LOL (one I did NOT forget and remember the stories so well!)
