Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A few NYC photos


Years ago we had a loyal reader who had done graduate work in New York who then married and moved to Texas. I can't remember her name but she loved our pics of NYC. As I recall, she died from a pulmonary embolism in her mid-80s. 


Anyway, she got me in the habit of posting random pics from our NYC outings. She loved NYC, but her husband worked in the oil patch.


Here's the Vienna Philharmonic (a huge orchestra with big sound) on Sat. night. Ravel, Debussy, and Rimsky-Korsakoff:

I've got hundreds (thousands?) of 35mm B&W negatives taken in Manhattan in 1970. I'd love to get them scanned in but, for some reason, B&W negatives are three times more expensive to scan than color.

There are scanners which will scan negatives. They are back lit (or have an attachment that is back lit). They work best with 35mm. When I couldn't scan some my large format negatives (120 & 640) the scanner just wasn't able to do it so I found a really inexpensive shop that would print them instead and then scanned the prints.

Oh yes, I remember Marianne--always clear minded and articulate with a clear perspective. If memory serves me, I believe she carried a small, large caliber handgun, or maybe it was just a .38

I had no idea the lawlessness in NYC had become to bad they won't even enforce the law of gravity anymore.
