We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
But why? Is it so you can be seen eating caviar or be able to say you ate caviar? I have a sweet tooth I eat chocolate and cookies and pies and other sweets. not only is there nothing to brag about there it is looked down upon by most people as being unhealthy. But I simply apply my normal worldview to it: do whatever you like and the hell with what others think. So in order for me to eat caviar it would have to taste good like sweet milk chocolate or hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. But I bet it doesn't! In fact I bet it tastes like fish eggs. So if you aren't trying to impress someone why eat it?
Some of us like fish eggs more than we like chocolate chip cookies. I like savory dishes and really have no taste for sweet things. If caviar and lobster were less expensive, I would eat them more often. As it is they are a treat reserved for sharing with friends and family, usually around the holidays.
Juts enjoying life, nothing more, not trying to impress anyone but living my best life, shared with others. You eat your cookies when you can, I'll eat caviar when I can.
You are absolutely right. Enjoy your favorite food. But it fails to answer the question. Caviar costs upwards of $100 an ounce and my favorite chocolate chip cookies at Safeway cost about $3 a pound. So how good does caviar taste? what am I missing?
Are you sure of that? Most fat people are genetically fat. I happen to have a genetically normal weight. I eat anything and everything I want, even eat four meals a day and my weight stays the same. I average half a pound of chocolate a day and if I buy Oreo cookies or chocolate chip cookies I usually eat them all at one sitting. And yet, my weight doesn't change.
But all that aside what I'm really asking is why caviar? Is it the taste, the decadence, that it is exotic... what? That's all. What is it. When I fished for salmon I would throw out the roe/caviar. I only knew one person who would eat it and he was a native.
