We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Raced Solings in Boston Harbor for several years with some buddies. Winds were rarely, if ever, that strong so the sailing was less thrilling. But that just made the technical skills of the crew more important. Often the 5 minute pre-start routine was the most exciting.
Started racing a Soling, graduated to J Boats. After a youth filled with athletics, racing was a new level of difficult. It is physically and mentally challenging and tests all your tools and often your ability to do dangerous things under pressure. Loved it as a young person - miss it as an old person. Can't even steer these days.
Bad knees and a bunged up hip are souvenirs!
