Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Bird Dog's at the vet, getting his teeth sharpened or something. Sorry, you're stuck with me again. I'm afraid I'm rather cranky this morning. On top of my general demeanor, I haven't read a newspaper or watched TV in over 20 years. That indicates that this isn't shaping up to be an informative session for you fine people. However, I'll do my best, because back in my day, we gave everything our best effort, even if it was doomed to failure. You know, like elections and public school. What went wrong with America’s $44 million vaccine data system?
Back in my day, a woman with a beehive hairdo and more eyeshadow than Cleopatra wearing eyeglasses on a chain would make our doctor's appointments, and we were too terrified of her to miss one. My 90s TV: You can browse 1990s Television Well, I didn't browse 1990s television in the 1990s, and I'm not going to start now. And back in my day, we used a compliant toddler to change the channel, not a remote. Amazon’s Ring now reportedly partners with more than 2,000 US police and fire departments
Why, back in my day, we made the Stasi build their own system of totalitarian surveillance. Lunik: Inside the CIA’s audacious plot to steal a Soviet satellite
Why, back in my day, we had to pay for our own LSD and prostitutes. Silver swept up by GameStop retail frenzy, prices soar

Why, back in my day, we'd greet research like this with a resounding, "Duh." And vocational training consisted of a very dirty plumber yelling at you to go get a Stilson wrench off the truck, and be back in two minutes or you're fired. Hedge fund Melvin sustains 53% loss after Reddit onslaught

Back in my day, jokes about coups following stolen elections didn't just write themselves. And we called it Burma. And of course, back in my day, we told everyone to have a nice day. I still do, and mean it.

Toyota CEO Agrees With Elon Musk: We Don't Have Enough Electricity to Electrify All the Cars
We would have to generate enough electricity to replace the 7.5 million barrels of gas we use every day. QUOTE: The second issue Toyoda is getting at is that petroleum isn’t just a fuel, it’s the foundation of thousands upon thousands of products we rely on every day. Cars alone have plastic and other petroleum-based parts throughout their systems and interiors. There is, as of yet, no reliable or economical replacement for the petroleum used to manufacture those parts. So if oil and natural gas stop coming out of the ground tomorrow, once the supply has gone through all the refining and other processes, our entire way of life takes a wallop. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/bryan-preston/2020/12/21/toyota-ceo-agrees-with-elon-musk-we-dont-have-enough-electricity-to-electrify-all-the-cars-n1222999 re Hedge fund Melvin sustains 53% loss after Reddit onslaught
Before Christmas I was looking for a particular poster for my sister. I looked on eBay and there was a poor quality version of the poster from China. Got to looking around and all the sellers on eBay selling this product only had maybe 5 to 20 feedback. They had all been established about the same time. They were obviously fronts operating under the umbrella of a larger Chinese seller/supplier. What's the point? Why couldn't . . . say . . . the Chinese government for example, set up a a gazillion little trader accounts and use them to crush hedge funds that had excessive shorts on their target stock? Not saying the Chinese were involved with this and I have absolutely no sympathy for the hedge funds, but it is something to think about. Thank you, Roger...my mood has improved...have a nice day, indeed.
Great post "Well, back in my day, you found a toddler for a remote." I was that toddler... it's how I learned to count...LOL
Thanks for taking over for that slacker, BD, Roger! Have a nice day, yourself!
What went wron with the $44 million vaccine system.
Back in my day we wrote programs for people who were not computer savvy and user interface and simplicity was required. Today's tach people live in a tech bubble and assume everyone knows what they know so they don't even try to make things user friendly. Even my stupid TV remote fights me. Push the 'back' button once and it goes back. Push it twice and you can see what you recorded. WTF, it's a "back" button! Many apps use incoherent names for thinghs. You Google that name/code and you get five ads promising to sell you it. But even they don't know what 'it' is. Wrongest thing is that politicos and "journo-lists" can't do simple arithmetic. It ain't gonna be over 'til it's over. Me, I just keep on stocking up.
re: run on silver.
Ask the Hunt brothers how that turned out. I think the Federal government screwed them over so nothing's changed.
"Myanmar army seizes power in coup and declares state of emergency for one year"
The generals seem to have taken advantage of two things: 1. Other countries are completely preoccupied with the pandemic. 2. Aung San Suu Kyi's fall from sainthood with all the self-congratulating wokesters of the West because of the Rohinga business. They probably assumed (rightly) that since she no longer had a global constituency of liberal sycophants, it was safe to give her the heave-ho. My gut tells me that saying that the communist have take over the Democrat party 'comes off as a crazy conspiracy theory. I get it. We have been facing down communism for 90 years or so and it doesn't feel like they are winning. But yet, the communist have taken over the Democrat party, have been for years and years and now they are so confident that they don't really try to hide it.
There really was an "insurrection". It began in 2016 when it appeared that Trump could actually win. It involved the DOJ, FBI, CIA Obama and more. It was a serious attempt to take control of the U.S. government. It went on and on for four years even continues today to cover up and divert attention. Remember when Bill Barr was appointed head of the DOJ we all thought here is an honest man who will fight the corruption/insurrection. But he didn't... Why? Because the insurrectionists are the government/swamp. They own/control everything lock stock and barrel. Then there is John Durham the highly competent bulldog of a prosecutor who was going to bring these anti-American swamp dwellers to justice. Where is he? Could be dead we don't know. We do know that no one is going to be brought to justice and in fact some of the perps are back working for Biden's administration now. But surely Biden isn't a "communist". Maybe not, Biden isn't in his right mind and is merely a puppet. But I suspect that if Biden were as mentally sharp as he was 12 years ago that he would be all in with the communist plan. As for Kamala, well she is controlled too. They stole the election, they expected to need about 13% of Trump's votes to do it but the landslide for Trump was so big they had to shut down voting in four swing states and create about 5 million more Biden votes. It appears that Trump actually got about 85 million votes and Biden got about 60 million or so. The steal was so big and so obvious that we all saw it. Many deny that it was stolen but they know. So the Dems/communist lie to us. They know we know they are lying and don't care. I believe at this point if they can run this play while everyone in the country knows that they stole the election then that shows they have succeeded an seizing power from us, that they have actually done it; taken our republic from us and we have accepted it. They want one more thing on that issue. They want to force everyone to say that the election wasn't stolen and Biden really won and anyone who continues to claim the election was stolen is a crazy far right conspiracist. DO IT! Go ahead, it's easy. Trump lost, Biden won and the 85 million who voted for Trump need to be sent to camps for reprogramming. Unless you want to be in one of those camps with me you better get used to saying it... the landslide for Trump was so big they had to shut down voting in four swing states and create about 5 million more Biden votes. Why haven't the phone records of the election officials who shut down voting been subpoenaed? I, for one, want to know who gave the order.
I thought that after Bird Dog's post on his wife wanting a boat he'd was out buying one.
