We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
New Grange's tomb with the solstice light entering. It was livestreamed at 3:41am last night. I wasn't getting up for that. I've visited. It's amazing. Hope to be there on the solstice some day.
We visited New Grange a couple of trips to Ireland ago. Astounding what those people could move without the aid of modern machinery. We have thought about entering the lottery for a chance of viewing the Winter Solstice appearance but knew our odds were against us. I doubt Ireland would have let us come this year of the COVID as they
continue to shut things down. Even joking with our young guide at the time who said, " I didn't believe in aliens but now I'm not so sure". This was referring to the size of stones moved from many miles away. I pity the poor kids who;s parents opted to see Guinness instead of the wonderful historical structures.
Went out to dinner tonight and just after sunset, in the SW sky, you could see Jupiter and Saturn less than a pencil width's apart - what a sight! This is the first time it's happened in 800 years, and supposedly these two manifested themselves as the Star of Bethlehem 2020 years ago. Take a look! It'll be there for a few more days. We emptied out the reservation desk and the waiting diners when we casually asked if they had seen it - everyone went out to the parking lot to see us point it out.
