Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Monday, June 8. 2020The Turn of the ScrewGhosts don't exist, except in history. These ghosts live in our minds, because we are aware of history and hope 'it can't happen here', or that lessons are learned. But some choose to not be aware of history, and make every effort to bring ghosts to life. For several months, since listening to the French Revolution portion of the Revolutions podcast I mentioned here at Maggie's, I've told friends we're moving toward a new French Revolution. As Minneapolis moves to defund its police department, one can only wonder, will it be replaced with a Committee of Public Safety? In a perverse way, I hope they do create one. The ghosts of Marat, Robespierre, Danton and countless others are alive again. I'm sure our modern day radicals will say "This time is different" or "It wasn't done right the last time" or some other excuse will be provided. I have to admit, though, it's fun to see these people turn on their own kind. It's also frightening. A friend of mine was sending me pictures today from Manhattan of the destroyed store fronts. It's pretty extensive, and the minimal news coverage of how bad it was provides a kind of rationale for the radical influence to keep pushing. There is no shame in destruction if it's not visible. But the destruction, too, is a ghost - not visible to many. Jonathan Turley puts his own spin on it here. Being a modern-day Abbe Sieyes isn't something I thought I'd begin to aspire to, but it may be a worthwhile goal nonetheless. Trackbacks

Funny you should say that, because I said pretty much the same thing to my wife today. "You know what happens when you try to do 'social justice' law enforcement? You get the French Revolution. You get the Red China 'Cultural Revolution'. You get the Bolshevik Revolution. You get Soviet show trials. You get Pol Pot. You get North Vietnam's 're-education camps.' You get Animal Farm."
Unfortunately for those of us not on the front lines, I think that is the leaders of the "revolutions" goal. They want to destroy/control us all and would love for what is going on to evolve into one of the revolutions you mentioned.
Please indulge me in my new poem, I wrote it myself:
"They seek it here, they seek it there, Those Proggies seek it everywhere. Is it in Heaven, or is it in Hell? That demned elusive No Cops bill." Rather good, don't you think? In the Democrat attempt to cure the systemic racism in city systems created and sustained by Democrats for decades, the Democrats will abolish “the police.” In their place, the Democrats will create the Security Service, or SS for short. The Security Service (SS) will respond very closely to Party diktats to ensure that only true enemies of the people are “policed.”
How about American Security Service. Better acronym, don't you think?
my personal canary in the coal mine is the TLC song "No Scrubs". When this song gets condemned as promoting a negative stereotype of young black men, despite being written and performed by an all-black group, you'll know the snake is feasting on his own tail.
Imagine Rick Monday's "rescue" of the American Flag happening today. He'd be ridden out of Baseball. This is nothing more than the way of the tribe as they yearn for the "good old days" of their Messiahs - Lenin and Stalin!!!
In my opinion, if/when police forces are disbanded, things will begin to resemble Mogadishu, more than the French Revolution.
Competing "warlords", with well funded, well armed narco-gangaters will establish their control over neighborhoods in cities. They will necessarily overwhelm any attempts toward citizen militias. I wouldn't disagree, but the goal isn't to eliminate policing.
It's to 'reform' policing and make it more politicized than it was. That's why I'm partial to it's replacement being called the Committee of Public Safety. Has a nice, acceptable sound and nobody will recognize it as the destructive force that it is. "Committee Of Public Safety"
or "COPS" for short I'm in favor of COPS, the real ones. As best I can tell, that's the way things are now in most Blue inner cities.
Re: You can buy land on Mars
This story may be a joke, but it's not very funny. Here's the question: If we can buy land on Mars, can people from other planets buy land on Earth? If they can, then they will. And then they will want political representation. We can't buy land on Mars, and other people can't buy land on Earth; because Earth is not for sale. But some people claim that they own the land, and they can sell it to anybody. So ultimately, its going to be a fight between old land claims, and the protection of our planet from outsiders. But if Mexicans and Blacks and Avatars are insiders, then there can't be any outsiders. The whole universe can buy land on Earth! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teBV0EoJJY8 Madame DeFarge has been knitting her scarf for quite a while.
This crazy movement goes back to at least OWS. It's the same people, the same crazy screams. One particular action of OWS that rings of the French Revolution is the wiping of feces on churches. I haven't heard any reports of that by BLM, but I'm sure it's coming. They are still allowing preachers to participate in the protests. The non-violent gatherings still somewhat resemble a civil rights movement. If they trun on the preachers then you know things have escalated to a new level. The 1619 Project is there own stupid effort to reset the calendar to Year Zero. Any day now I expect them to demand that we convert to the metric system. Already converted to metric some years ago. 5.56mm and 9mm are pretty standard.
Occasionally the Europeans come up with something that works. They developed those rounds so they get to name them.
re I've told friends we're moving toward a new French Revolution.
Perhaps so. When will we see the public beheadings? Who will the targets be? I have no doubt, just as the guillotine was a new state-of-the-art method, we'll find a new way to dispatch people.
In away, they've already begun with social shaming. Maybe that's the new version of the guillotine. Although it would not surprise me if they actually decided to kill people. https://www.thedp.com/article/2018/01/drexel-professor-controversial-christmas-tweet-resignation-philadelphia-upenn I, for one, am only marginally opposed to them creating a Committee for Public Safety, or whatever the fresh! new! version! will be, given that they will have to rebrand else people recognize the same old stench.
The reason I have marginal opposition is because there will be innocents caught up in the madness. And by that I mean real innocents. I don't consider the useful idiots of the Twin Cities who have put the protoProgs (aka Democrats) and now VileProgs in charge for more than two generations to be innocent. They deserve to get what they voted for, good and hard. yet I have great misgivings. If we could actually keep it contained to ManyAppleEyes, I'd be borderline supportive. But can we? Their madness is like a political ebola. Communicable, deadly, and bloody. |
