I am not the only one who is losing patience with the Iraqis.

Sectarian hostilities have been simmering for years in Iraq. Saddam kept a lid on it in the only language they understand, brutality. It's getting to the point where we should take over the oil production, using our troops to protect that. As for the rest of the country, let them do the only thing they seem capable of, running around shooting each other and blowing each other up.

Err, you seem upset that people don't like to be invaded and forced to do what we want. I guess I am not surprised at that, but I am surprised at you and all the Bushmaster's cohort who seem startled at this discovery. How stupid can you be--your Grandmother was right!! When has outside force settled a country down?

We knew before we went in that this would be the result, and the response was 'are you saying that iraqis don't want democracy?!'

You see the invasion as a *gift*? I'm gobsmacked.

BTW Iraqis have little history of sectarian violence, nor a history of antijewish hatred. Like most of the arab world all the larger cities had thriving jewish quarters.

That only changed well into the 1950s.

BTW Bird dog. I did answer your points on neoneofascist, but the thought police there think my comments are too factual for their agenda and delete them.

Didn't want you to think I'd been rude by ignorance is all.

J: I dont know what you posted at Neo's place but I know she prefers civil, reasoned discourse, and not name-calling.

ET: I am not saying that they dont want freedom: I am saying that they would rather fight eachother.

BB: Outside forces? They settled down Japan, Germany, Vichy France, the US in the Rev (France made it happen), etc. It sometimes works.

Commenters: Please no name-calling and insulting. Please just deal with the argument as presented, however lame it may be. We welcome disagreement, but manners are the rule at Maggie's.

I have to disagree, they do like name calling at neoneanderthal, but only when they throw it. Dissenters are always abused and belittled.

They see presentation of facts as abuse.

Please don't use WW2 analogies in the current crises. They don't apply.
