We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The USA is an exceptional country because of its freedoms and its constitution which protects them. However, Britain is our mother. Britain's exceptionalism, in its rebellions against state and government power, and its honoring of freedom was the inspiration to take the idea of individual freedom further.
Unfortunately, nowadays the UK is a police state. A couple of months ago, London police arrested a black minister for reading from the King James Bible on a street corner.

Both countries suffer from overweening bureaucrats determined to stop challenges to their authority.
The fad for being offended started in the US.
Perceptions of freedom- in UK eyes it is ludicrous that you need a license from the state to cut hair or paint someones house or sell lemonade in the street. In USian eyes it is entirely normal that you seek permission from the state before undertaking these activities.
Sorry, that one is a myth. You can do your own electrical work as long as it is to code. Certain work i.e. bathroom ekectrics is notifiable and should be passed by building control.
Not that I agree but there is an argument that if you screw up some ones hair or the emulsion in their hallway thats one thing but screwing up the electrics is on a different level.
The Anglosphere is simply different in general. That is a greater difference than how different Australia might be from Canada, or the US from the UK. Only the Dutch and maybe the Danes are all that similar.
Brexit is going to make that clearer again. Not only will Britain be closer to the US, its already close ties to the Commonwealth will strengthen.
