We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Politics is not my beat, but on a rare perusal of The New York Times today (dental office), I could not help but be struck by how the winds blow down there at their headquarters. If Trump is for it, they're against it from the news slants to the opinion (today, Trump is an existential threat to the Republic)..
Even when Dems were for something just a few years ago in Obama times. Suddenly, the NYT and the Dems have pivoted towards hawkish in the Middle East. Suddenly, illegal immigration is desirable. Israel is now evil. Our energy independence is bad. And so on. You can fill in further examples in our comments. Here's the guiding principle, as best as I can tell:
Remember, Trump is the oppressor. They are the Party. The Party is the Liberator of the people. What the party does, they do in the name of Liberation.
The Party can lie to the people in the name of liberation; the Party can steal from the people in the name of Liberation; The party can imprison the people in the name of liberation; the party can kill the people in the name of liberation.
"Due Process" is a tool that the Oppressor uses to maintain his status as oppressor; So is free speech, so is private property; so is the ability to defend oneself. All of these things must be destroyed so that the Party can lead the Revolution to crush the oppressor.

The cynics anthem! It's becoming more and more mine too.
Two parties made up of loyal Americans who, though they disagree, are bound by their common love our democratic institutions and freedom... Right! Government of by and for the people... Don't make me laugh! Our government procedures are designed to impart justice as equally as possible... not in the House of Representatives!
Yeah, the majority of that is happening on the Democrat side but there are very few Republicans who seem to want to push back against this. The (Republican) Senate has been quiet regarding in the face of the lynching that is in progress in the House.
