We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I do not understand what business the colleges have in investigating and punishing crimes. It would seem to me that a trial lawyer could make a nice living suing colleges who make a determination that a sex crime has taken place given the ineptitude and biases of the college. All of these cases should be referred to local police.
Nor do I, but the loonies in Obama’s Administration issued the Dear Colleague letter that threatened their funding if they did NOT take this idiotic step to deprive the accused of their Constitutional rights.
This is a really good example of the dangers of government funding for, well, anything: you become dependent on it and you’ll do anything to keep the cash coming in.
This is also a really good example of how screwed up our government is: a department that should be abolished threatening to de-fund universities and colleges of revenue they probably don’t really need by usurping the Constitutional rights of the students who pay huge, unnecessary sums to attend there due to government subsidies driving prices up. It’s a perfect storm of crazy.
The ACLU was formed by a communist and many/most of it's lawyers seem to have the same sentiment. It is also interesting that a great deal of it's funding is shady and many of it's lawyers are foreigners/recent immigrants. Of course there is nothing wrong with being an (legal) immigrant but it seems curious that so many ACLU lawyers are foreigners. Almost as though they were "planted" there for some purpose...
