We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My husband is the primary cook in my household. The funny thing is, soup is my favorite, so when he puts it on the menu it's as a special favor to me, since he doesn't much care for it. Usually, if want soup, I have to get my own butt in the kitchen and produce it.
He also dislikes leftovers. I love them and would eat them all week, but he'll cook something new every day just out of boredom.
I do not criticize my husband's cooking. In fact, he's a fabulous cook and I'm grateful, but I wouldn't criticize it in any case unless I were prepared to take over his task.
