Today's white children have been dumbed down intentionally. This was done by the liberal elites who wanted to "level the playing field" and could not think of a better way. Could not figure out how to get the black community to support their own children's education. Could not think of a way to help the black community embrace education--therefore, take away education from the white community. The dumbing down of American schools has been intentionally racist from the beginning somewhere in the late 1960's to early 1970's when it really started. My dd was "taught to the test" in 11th grade--that in a private mostly white high school run by the Episcopalians! The year was 1983. Teach to the test means the teacher goes over the questions that will be on the test and then gives the answers days in advance so that they can be memorized. This was done in history and english as well as math. "Teaching to the test" was immoral and unethical then and should have been outlawed, but was not. It became the only pedagogy used in grades 1-12. Thus, and therefore, our children cannot make connections when reading. Do not understand the basic function of algebra. You folks let it pass on when your children were "barely getting through", should have stood up then. OH, I remember some of you did try at PTA meetings, but then got pushed off into meaningless committees. What did you do then?
