Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Inflammatory wild-eyed hateful provocateur Prof. Jacobson speaks at Vassar

"I’m still trying to get my mind around the Vassar College campus reaction to my planned lecture on “hate speech” and free speech..."


You can listen to his speech and the Q&A here. Actually, nothing controversial at all from my view. Even the kids' questions were pretty good for a third-tier $60,000/year college. Some angry-sounding women of course, as usual.

What this boils down to is he is pro Israel. The activists/troublemakers on campus are anti-Israel.

What the Prof fails to get, or to say, is that the "hypersensitive" really are not. Just bullies posing as "offended." They seek offense as a power tool.

It's all political theater. College admins are spineless.

I'm repeatedly baffled at the inept and cowardly school administrators that put up with this sort of thing - not including the few that actively participate. We're told that the students engaged in this behavior are a minority - then why not investigate and, if found guilty, expel them? The school should be able to replace the few quite easily.
