Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Peterson and Paglia. The whole thing is predictably entertaining, and Paglia is full of beans as always. They cover all sorts of topics.

Paglia debunks leftism and feminism with as much intellectual depth as enthusiastic consistency.

Paglia is hardly full of beans. On the other hand, rightists are commonly - and proudly - full of beans.

I've always taken it to mean full of gas. Full of nonsense.

In any event, here Paglia basically offers a longer version of Dennett's condemnation of postmodernism. Neither are kind to it, nor should they be.

Aside from the interesting conversation, what fun to see two peoples who talk with their hands go at it. I'm not a gesturer, and I don't know that I know any who elaborate their words so much. Fun to watch.

What's funny is that both are connected to academia and both lay waste to academia's incompetence.
