We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"What I found amusing about this report is how absurdly puritanical it can be."
Amusing and ironical: these history-erasers are responding to the same impulses as the Puritans, albeit based on a different ideological foundation.
Harvard could well be cutting off their nose to spite their face with this sort of silliness. I mean, their particular cachet as an Ivy League institution depends heavily on an aura of clubby, Eastern Seaboard, Boston Brahmin WASPy exclusivity, doesn't it?
Why would Daddy and Mummy pay a king's ransom to send Chad and Muffy to a university that looks and acts no different than any other run-of-the-mill degree farm in thrall to vulgar grievance-mongering activists?
This is just truth in advertising. Harvard was taken over by Unitarian heretics in the late 1700s. And Harvard's motto, "Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae" (Truth for Christ and the Church), was sanitized to simply "Veritas." No self-respecting Puritan has set foot in Harvard Yard for many a year.
"History is what happened, not what we wish had happened, or what a theory says should have happened. History cannot be prettified in the interests of promoting "acceptance" or "mutual respect among people and cultures. There is much in the history of every people that does not deserve respect---whether with individuals or with groups, respect is something to be earned, not a door prize handed out to all. It cannot be prescribed by third parties, for what is to be respected depends on each individual ---and "equal respect" is an intrinsically contradictory evasion. If everything is respected equally, then the term respect has lost its meaning." Tom Sowell, "Migrations and Cultures" I just happened to copy that down this morning.

They'll take the money from the slave owner. They'll take the corporation built by Puritans. But they feel bad about it. They're keeping the money, but they feel bad.
They do have a $38.6B endowment that the government is allowing them to keep. It's just sitting there doing nothing! Who really needs that much money? Just think of all the homeless it could feed and all the healthcare it could pay for...
Their chickens will come home to roost one day. Sooner rather than later.
