Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Crazy lady

She was standing across from me on a street corner, yelling at cars and gesticulating incomprehensibly like a crossing guard on LSD.


When the light changed and I crossed, I saw that she was just having an animated emotional conversation on her Bluetooth thing.

Heh. Love Bluetooth earpieces. Was an early adopter. Sometimes I wore two of them--one for the phone and one for the computer. Cracked my employees up. (Once upon a time I was a big deal. But, outsourcing. Didn't see it coming.)

We have tried to get some of our patients who yell at voices to wear such devices in hopes of blending in. Most refuse, insulted. The few who go along soon forget to wear them every time they go out.

There should be special hats people wear while using hands-free so that others know they are relatively sane. Maybe like the one Napoleon wore.

I'm for bringing back phone booths so people can use them for the mobile conversations.

I was working in New York City when mobile phones were just becoming a "thing". It was terrible, because one no longer knew which people to instinctively avoid.
