We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
So, in my updated understanding today of American law:
1. If you invite them to dinner and say something that offends them, whatever that is and even if it is true, like, say, oh, that under Platonic thought, rape is an irrational act and would be condemned by Plato . . . for stating such words you could be guilty of rape.
2. But if you don't take them out to dinner, you are violating their civil rights because you are discriminating against women.
I still don't know, who is supposed to pay for the dinner?
And they wonder why Vice President Pence won't go to lunch alone with a woman. The 2nd oldest trap in the world. A man is always guilty and the woman is always believed. If the roles were reversed and the instructor was a man then he would be the one in trouble. What was his sin? Being a male at a time and place where that isn't safe.
