We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You would think that people in the inner cities (and thus Democrats) would be the most likely ones to want to ditch the current public school monopoly and move to school choice. They stand to gain the most. It's sad that their Democrat overlords won't give them that option.
The Dept. of Ed was a gift to the teachers unions. It was originally staffed by union thugs and teachers. It has now grown so big it includes all kinds of rent seekers. It has never educated a single child but costs us tens of billion$ every year. All of it essentially goes to reward the cronies who vote for Democrats.
There was a lot of hypocrisy in the politicians and the news media for claiming that because she, herself, didn't go to public schools she shouldn't be in charge of education.
Well, then the politicians should not be in charge of public education since they send their kids to private schools, they should not be in charge of labor laws since they do not work, they should not be in charge of anything since they do nothing!
Mother of 3 Rips Franken for Elitist Comments on Education - 'Sir, I have a bit of a bone to pick with you about your recent comments during the confirmation hearing for Betsy DeVos..."
It turns out that Senator & Comedian Al Franken is a product of private schools.
Franken graduated from The Blake School in 1969, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He attended Harvard College where he majored in government, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1973
