Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Students don't want to learn anymore.

Not really true, I think, but there is an obnoxious and arrogant minority which grabs the news and smears an entire cohort of eager and curious learners: Students don't want to learn anymore. They want to teach.


Humility is often in short supply among the youth, but if they lack the virtue of humility, life will correct that problem in good time.

AKA, Liberal Arts and Social Science majors.

The reason we don't hear from the STEM students is, you know, they have to study because their majors are college level and hard.

In my business we keep a special look out for farm kids. Yes, farm boys, and girls, do grow up to be engineers, programmers and data scientists. And they tend to be good hires.
