We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The youth will not recall one of the more idiotic TV shows of the 1970s. Tonight's Really Big Show will not be a re-run. It will be live, and it will be exciting. The MSM has been building up the tension for days.
I will welcome your comments below before, during, and after the TV show (9 pm EST). Two deplorable people will compete for your affection or disgust.
If only Trump had a solid philosophy to base his political decisions on. He had many chances to point out the flaws in Clinton's philosophy of government, markets, and liberty. He's unable to explain why Clinton is fundamentally wrong.
I think he just doesn't have a basic philosophy in political matters. He may not care. He approaches it as a business man. That is, he's dynamic and adapts to the environment. Unfortunately for him, government doesn't work like a business; nor should it. I really don't want an efficient government.
Jefferson once proposed that any federal law should have a waiting period of one year between being signed and taking effect. More often than not a law is written, not to address a problem, but to appear to address a problem. There are many times when we would be better off to just let problems solve themselves. Or better yet, dissolve.
Were the natural rights of man mentioned even once in this debate?
I thought he did well on the silly question of racial problems. He re-routed the question by stating that America needs to restore law and order, which is true. Currently, riots are a problem; equal justice is not.
The content of what Hillary was saying was appalling, including calling all Americans racist. She totally failed to give an answer to Trump on most of his points. But Trump was awful too for getting off point and spending time giving stupid defenses of his personal actions when he should have just been driving the knife in Hillary over and over again.
On balance, it was a draw, although I would suspect the viewers are going to give it to Trump.
i absolutely can't stand that woman, Mrs Clinton. But Trump was a big disappointment in the debate. He wasn't prepared and that didn't work for him. Hard to believe that he'd lose his cool like he did, that I thought he had in the bag. And he said he agreed with herself twice, debaters never say that even if the are reiterating her exact point in her exact words.
