Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

After all, when housing prices collapsed in 2008, he didn't call for a ban on hammers, nails, bulldozers and scaffolding. Bans which, since they are tool specific just like gun restrictions, would have made house building much more difficult and helped prices rise. A gun is a tool, too. It didn't walk into the club on its own, it didn't pull its own trigger. It required a sick and deluded person to perpetrate the crime. Trackbacks

The left is orgasmic over mass shootings and anything that allows them to infringe on our constitutional rights. They have a plan for us and it definitely does not include an armed and empowered citizenry. Every oppressive and tyrannical regime in history had to disarm the citizens first to make their goals possible. They will not quit. They are in this for the long haul. The recent ruling by the 9th circuit and the death of Antonin Scalia have created the exact environment for a Supreme court ruling against the 2nd amendment. The next president may well appoint 3 Supreme Court justices. A Darth Hillary presidency will be a disaster.
I couldn't agree more with everything you said. It is bad now but it could get much worse if Hillary is allowed to continue what the left has planned.
I'm sure. This act was planned and perpetuated by sheer hate. And we have allowed people who despise our culture, our diversity, our enterprise, our Constitution, our unlimited potential offered to people from all walks of life to enter our country, take critical jobs in our government and lie to us about their purpose while they infiltrate our lives and lull us into apathy. It's the old sing-song game: one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong…
Look at the countries where Islam reigns. Those countries exist only for their very elite rulers and enslave the lower classes to serve them. They don't discover, develop or expand anything new to benefit their populations; they steal what they need for their elites from other countries and abuse their constituencies, including women, to serve their very narcissistic needs. Get them out of the U.S. and Europe; they don't belong. I consider whatever was driving him, however logical it seems to him and others who share his POV, to be twisted.
I understand what you're saying. He had to plan this, he had to have motivation, means, etc. You can't be completely insane and pull off something so methodical. Or can you? I happen to think the people who support this strain of anti-social belief systems are sick people. There is a fundamental disconnect in the ability to discern right from wrong - because what they have come to believe only allows them to rationalize their hate, not understand what drives it or why it may be ill-considered. So yes, maybe he wasn't sick and deluded in the sense of psychoanalysis. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who feels this kind of activity yields a positive outcome, even for their belief system, has a mental deficiency and is deluded. Since the left is so panicked over inaccurate labels perhaps we should say "Islamic Radicals"
I always laugh when they emote about gun violence. Gun is a noun not an adjective so that's bad grammar and guns are inanimate objects and can't commit violence so it's also an example of the pathetic fallacy. The pathetic fallacy is claiming human emotion or behavior for objects incapable of it.
"Obama's response to the tragedy in Orlando is to call for gun control. No mention of radical Islam, no discussion of the fellow caught with bombs in LA, and how restrictions on bombs have stopped their use."
And no mention how having gun control laws in France far more restrictive than those in the US singularly failed to prevent the shootings at the Bataclan... If Obama was trying to get Trump elected I can't imagine how he could do more to help him.
1. Obama said "terrorism" one time in passing and refused to use the modifier "Islamic". He then proceeded to imply that this was actually a hate crime against gays rather than what it was - by the jihadist's own admission - an act of Islamic terrorism against Americans. He couldn't resist blaming guns rather than blaming Islamic fanatics and his own failure to deter them.
2. One of the left wing newspapers took Trump's response out of context trying to make him look like a political opportunist. The truth is quite the opposite. 3. Hilary told the families that her "thoughts" were with them while Trump said that he was "praying for the victims and their families." Obviously, one of the candidates doesn't want to "offend" anyone with religion. 4. FBI director Comey said the FBI was investigating this as a hate crime. Really? He's in Obama's politically correct back pocket and will do whatever Obama tells him in reference to Hillary's emails and computer. Here is my common sense solution to gun control:
Ban muslims from having weapons of any kind. Think about it. As a practical matter, it is likely to have good temporary effect. It is pretty clearly discriminatory, however, and not very American. There have been attempts to do this in some jurisdictions with Natives and with blacks, which got overturned pretty quickly.
I would go another route. Vulnerable populations - elderly black people in bad neighborhoods, gays, women - should arm themselves more. Simpler and better idea: BAN MUSLIMS from this country!
They obviously cannot meld into the fabric of Western Civilization;. Indeed a significant majority of them already in this country would prefer implementation Sharia law on all of us. If only they didn't so many pills in those bottles of aspirin, people couldn't overdose on them so easily.
Wouldn't it be great if Trump pointed out that these attacks seem to ONLY occur in gun controlled areas? One of the band members from the French slaughter said people were on their knees begging for their lives as the monsters laughed and shot. The band member said if some in the audience were armed, the number of dead would, perhaps, be smaller. Needless to say, he is not welcome in france.
We should just make it illegal to kill people and be done with it.
