Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

As a 30 year owner of a vengeful, spiteful, mean, nasty, coldblooded, razorblade swinging, pistol packing, paper serving ex-wife I offer a hearty AMEN!

Cliff - understand your position. However, women who have the misfortune to have the male equivalent of your ex far too often find themselves dead. Or - if not dead - bereft of their children, whom Dad has killed before claiming insanity (Dr Guy Turcotte, Allan Schoenborn). Though there have also been a couple of cases where either Dad just killed the children and hid the bodies so never found (Calgary) or just killed the kid as handing over to wife and the committed suicide (think Red Deer).

It is truly sad when a man or woman kills their ex and/or their children. But you need to pay attention to the news it is a crime committed by both genders. Statistically women commit physical assault on their partners more often then vice versa. Most children who are killed by a parent are killed by the mother. This does not fit the preferred view of things so it is common for this to be hidden, ignored or excused.
