We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
De-nazification. That is what Tushnet and his pals have in mind. It is good to know that they weren't calling us Nazis lightly all along, but that they actually meant it. Sure, it's not a positive thing to be called a Nazi, but it is good to know that the people we are dealing with are sincere.
It is ultimately tribal, and about wanting Their People to have power. Because they can only conceive of values, constitutions, and culture in this way, they believe that others must as well.
I strongly recommend one of CS Lewis's more secular books The Abolition of Man on this topic. Lewis took a first in philosophy as well as literature at Oxford and was originally a lecturer there in that subject.
